Was in the local Wally World. Went by the sporting good counter to see if they had 3 boxes to grab. Older man working the counter said how many? Thought he was joking. I said 3. He then tells me they got the letter today. No more limits. And they had plenty!

He said " its amazing what one man can do" ......
I haven't seen a single round of 22 rimfire in our Wally in years. You are blessed!
I got sack full at Cabelas last week. No restrictions but they didn't have everything I wanted yet. It was a good feeling anyway.
Not that Oblammy had anything to do with it.

Exactly
Neither of the 2 stores here have had any for a long time......not that I need any and the local lgs's have plenty.
Ammo at ours has been self limiting. 3 boxes of nothing.
Does anyone actually shoot 22's, or are people still boarding it thinking they'll take on the UN someday with their 10-22's?

I'll shoot it. Not 10/22. But a marlin 60 and single six.

And it's not the UN. But zombies. 😂
I have 2 22's that I shoot. One's a 50+ year old Sears bolt action. The other's a 50+ year old Marlin bolt action. They're the same gun so it's pretty obvious who Sears had making their 22's back then. Both are great shooters, btw.
All the stores big and small are stacked to the ceiling with just about any brand you want except Wall Mart.
They haven't had any in years and still don't.
I'm not sure if the early morning hoarders are still at work of if they just don't order any.
A couple weeks ago I bought all the CCI 22 rim fire ammo a Sioux City Walmart had. All 250 rounds.

Same here locally. Walmart is the only dealer with no .22lr on the shelf and it's been that way for several years. We just don't have reason to buy much there anymore.

We do, but not nearly as much as we used to.

The last time I bought 22 ammo in Walmart I think I paid about $12 for a 550 carton, that's been a while.
But then again, I haven't been in a Walmart in quite some time either.
We shoot .22, not as much as we used to, but as long as I have 9-10K rounds on hand, the boys, my grandkids can shoot up whatever excess we have over that.

really glad to hear that lots of folks are laying hands upon it again. I'd forgotten how much joy there is in shooting .22 until my kids started shooting.

Haven had any at our 5 local Walmart in probably three years.

Sad really

Thanks, Tom
None at our walmart ither than the small boxes at .10 round
Ours has had all the mini mags and Winchester in the 100 round boxes for the last year or so. Finding any CCI is easy enough there and other stores...

Same here. They sell guns but very little ammo and haven't seen ammo in a LONG time.

When I was there a week ago they did have some cheap Remingtons which I don't like, but all the other stuff was still 9 to 11 cents around. Still no deals as far as I'm concerned. I've paid 10 cents per round when it was tough to find, But there is plenty now and they still want to rob us.

Same here. We have two Walmart's that we normally go to, one about fifteen miles away and the other about twice that. Neither has had any .22 ammo that I've seen for years. I've been able to buy some at Walmart's that we go to once in awhile that are farther away, but one usually doesn't have it and the other one I'm thinking about, we seldom go to, so I wouldn't know. I don't need any, but it would be nice for Walmart's to have it once again.
Most shelves around here are pretty well stocked. Price hasn't come down though. About $35 for a 500ct box.

Havent been in a Walmart in a while so can't comment there.
They don't need a limit here the P O S store never has any! Self limiting I guess!!
the new normal is 35-40 bucks a brick so its self limiting for me. gone are the days of just picking up 500 for 10 bucks and blowing through them without a thought
None to be had at the Wal-Mart stores around here. I'll take this development as a good sign, though.
I have not seen a box of 22 in a Wal-Mart around here in 4 years.....The early morning Hoarders still at work..

Looks like Wolf for the win....
walmart here now has it, (still too high) and I saw the shelves were loaded at Cabela's, but the cheapest was still $.10 per shot. (that is still robbery in my opinion)
Been a while since I have asked, but the last time that I did, the local Walmart had .22 ammo but did not put it out where it could be seen. You had to ask for it. miles
the store manager of the Super Wally World down the street told me recently, that he could not even order any .22 LR. Said that the warehouse sent an allocation, of a few boxes a week.

The shortage, contrived or whatever, is not over. Until you can walk into any retail outlet that sells sporting goods, and buy from a variety of brands, and pay a decent price, there will be a shortage.

Yep, as recently as a month ago, I got laughs when I asked if they had any .22 rimfire at Walmart.

All of our stores around here have loads of 22 ammo. Amazing how it suddenly appeared.

I'll have to check them out next week.

The past few times we've shopped at Walmart they have had not a whole lot but some .22 lr in the locked glass ammo case behind the sporting goods checkout counter. They may have had more in the warehouse or stuck under the counter out of sight. I've had that happen a couple of times a good while back. A sporting goods store clerk went and got some from back in the warehouse once and another time a store clerk found a few single boxes stuck up under the check out counter.

The biggest problem I've seen at Walmart with trying to buy anything in the sporting goods dept that requires a store clerk to get it or must be paid for at that register is rarely ever is there a store clerk on duty at the sporting goods dept. and trying to get a one to show up within a reasonable time to take care of customers ordinarily becomes a waiting game. I've seen customers wanting to buy licenses and ammo wait 20 minutes and longer after asking other passing store clerks and ringing the need assistance buzzer and still no clerk.

I can do precisely that here at Academy, Dicks and Bass Pro. Walmart is only carrying CCI.
Glad to see people shooting it. There never was a shortage from manufacturers. The only reason it was non existent is because people were stockpiling it thinking it was the apocalypse. Then the kid that wanted to shoot a 22 couldn't, because some nut had 20,000 rounds buried in his back yard.

With Obongo in office and sniffing about for more time staying there, the word "apocalypse" isn't too much of a stretch. Now, when a brick of really good ammo, say Tac22, or Wolf Match Target starts costing 45 bucks, or under, I'll start to believe this ammo shortage wasn't just a contrivance by manufacturers to get prices up.
First Walmart done away with pistols a few years back. Last year they quit selling the evil black guns. Although they had 22 rifles to sell the last three years, they unlike others never seemed to have 22 cal ammo. Strange policies, I will continue to do my ammo/ firearm shopping with other businesses that don't lean to the left. GW
Plenty around here.
I went into another Walmart today. A country Walmart. Went by the counter to see what they had. Finally found the guy working the small sporting goods section. Asked him if he had any .22. His eyes lit up. He said how many you want? I said I like a few. He countered, Well I got some 1000 rounds boxes. Winchester. Not sure what kind. They were still in the case box. Price? ~$52 with tax. I ended up getting a couple 100 rd boxes.
I regularly check on the .22 inventory here at WM. I don't buy too often, but it seemed to get steadily in stock again a while ago (sometime last Fall I think).

Reading this reminded me of something. Is it just me or every time you go toWalmart now in any department, there is rarely anyone just standing at the register waiting to HELP you? There are all stocking inventory it seems. Don't they pay people do that solely?

5 cents a round is getting a heck of a lot closer to the prices 4-5 yrs ago. Things are looking up.

I've seen it go both ways as to limits on rim fire ammo purchases at Walmart over the past few years.

More often than not Walmart has had a limit of X quantity per customer per day but a few times I've also heard customers wanting to buy just two or three 50 or 100 round boxes or a bulk round box, assuming they were still limiting purchase quantities, get asked by a sporting goods clerk, ''is that all you want?".
