Searched and cannot find. Seems like there was a woman on here who made hats, mittens, and the likes out of real fur. From Idaho, maybe Alaska?
Anyone remember this or am I dreaming this?
I'm not sure if it's the same but I bought a beaver trapper hat from Alaska fur Exchange that exceeded my expectations.

Me too. If I recall, you could send her your own hides and she'd make all kinds of cool stuff. I think she was from Alaska or maybe BC?
She was from AK but moved out... IIRC contact snowwolfe.

Do you mean her username is snowwolfe or that snowwolfe would know how to contact her?
If it's username, it isn't her unless she took a wife:

Evidently a woman with fur is hard to find these days...
She was the Wolf woman out of Alaska, I bought a neat fur hat from her, a few years ago. I think I have a Otter and or Beaver fur hat I might sell Ill have to look!
Best do it quickly if you're looking to Californicate.
Check out Merlin’s hide out. Thermopolis, Wyoming.

I remember her but have no idea how to contact her. I had the folks from Alaska Fur Exchange make more than a few hats for me. I am fairly picky about how I like my hats and suggest if you decide to have one made you specify exactly what you are looking for. The nice thing about being able to go in there you can pick your own beaver hide to use. I prefer the darker hides. If you have any questions feel free to pm. They aren't expensive, but expensive enough you need to get exactly what you want. They use the hat style you see in the Bethel area.
Talk about deceptive advertising! They have a section on "muffs" and I did not see a single muff picture there, at all. Just some goofy handwarmer things!
There's a guy on Ebay that handmakes hats and other items. They are patterned after items made in the 1800s. He makes them out of otter, beaver, coyote, fox, buffalo. etc, and has a 100% rating on about 2000 sales. His handle on Ebay is critterfoot.

Love my Skunk hat but yours makes me extremely jealous.
If you PM me, I'll put you in touch with a Yup'ik woman who makes good hats. Her husband and son both trap for income in winter so she also uses some of the catch: beaver, wolf, lynx, wolverine, martin for hats and things. Not sure how busy she is, but her's is the hat I've worn for a few years now.
I reckon there may be members here who have hunted moose or bears with the men as well.
I need to keep this site marked.
