Thinking it's time for another pocket knife.
Youtube reviews give it a thumbs up.
But,....... I only have one other Benchmade . It,s an automatic and it's a piece of crap.

I think there are cheaper ways to go but, at the same time I just got another Randall.
So, whatever works.
From Hogue @
knifeworks exclusiveDoug Ritter and Benchmade parted ways. He went to Hogue.
That's a good knife, but I'm sold on being able to open and close with one hand. I really like this blade shape better and the hole in the blade is the best way I've found to open one handed.

If it's a POS, why would want another one?
IMO, Gerber makes a decent bunch of various knives suitable for just about any use at reasonable prices.
I've have one of their autos for a couple of years, as has my son, & they've been good.

You can get S30V steel on EDC knives for under 100 bucks. Look around including the buck web page. Point being, no matter what you get, get good steel.
Ag Russell featherlight one hand knife.

Mechanically it'a piece of crap.Great blade.I have a few German automatics. Night & day.
I like Spyderco.
With the hole, opening is easy.
Lockback is easy enough one handed,
other options can be had.
I’ve been carrying and abusing a
Buck Spitfire (Made in USA) for 2.5 years. It’s indestructible and easy to put a quick edge on with a
10” Dexter Diamond sharpener (Made in USA).
The black marker is from using it as a depth gauge this afternoon. This was right before, using it to scribe lines on a 4x10 sheet of aluminum.
Weren’t we all mad at Benchie for sawing up shotguns for the cops?
If I really needed another folding knife, this would be it. I’m DONE buying any new Benchmades.

Sorry if the thread went off the rails a bit. Amended version below.
Thinking it's time for another pocket knife and ran across this clean looking blade.

Looking for a deep pocket EDC to pair with my CRKT assisted opener

I did!
I gave it to Gruff though. He always wanted one.
hard to beat a mini grip as an EDC knife
hard to beat a mini grip as an EDC knife
I second this, I"ve been carrying a mini-grip for 3 years and really like it. Mine has 154CM steel, which works very well. Newer ones seem to be coming in S30V. Which is "better" steel, but I personally don't like it as well. YMMV.
The Benchmade Griptilians are good but I prefer Spyderco. It's hard to beat the PM2 or Manix, plus there are many premium steels to choose from. If you want to spend less, the LW Native, Delicas and Enduras are also good.
I have two Spyderco Native 5's in S35VN and it is a very good EDC.
I also got a couple cheapo Rat 2's in D2, and that is a great value. I have a Tormek power wet stone - strop wheel, and it stays super sharp with just regular power stropping. In fact Flave gave the recommendation on the Rat.
This in the one I have in my pocket every day:

"It,s an automatic and it's a piece of crap."
By automatic do you mean assisted opening? I have a Benchmade MINI-BARRAGE w/assisted opening blade that works great. I took the clip off the handle and it's a perfect fit in my Wrangler jeans watch pocket, easy to get out quick.
Mine's a Mini Nitrous Stryker. Simple drop point, no serrations, D2 steel, and G-10 scales.
I also carry an antique Queen Steel 3 blade Stockman with bone scales for delicate work.

Spot on!
Fine looking knife . As I said above I have Benchie automatic that's a POS but I'm not about to condemn an entire product like based on a sample of one.

No it's an auto. View their auto family if you wish.

That's a very nice knife.
I picked up a Mini Crooked River from their custom shop recently and it's an absolute peach with G10 handles and 20 cv steel.
Also check out
https://copperandclad.com/ They have some unique knives that aren't available everyday.
Get a Zero Tolerance knife and don't look back.
My EDC knife is a Kershaw Leek. The assisted opening is as fast as an automatic without the mechanical complications, it’s thin, light, stays sharp....doesn’t cost a bunch and is made in USA. If I had to cut my way in or out of crashed helicopters or silently take out sentries on a regular basis I’d probably get something else, but for what I use an EDC knife it’s just fine. Doesn’t cost a bunch to replace, either when I lose one or give one away.
While ZT is the schitz, they are a little big for my everyday carry use. I stumbled up this and it was some of the best money I ever spent. Carbon fiber scales, titanium frame, CPM-S35VN steel, smooth as silk flipper tab, and weighs next to nothing. Perfect size and profile.
20 bucks off your first order, so it is your for a C note.
https://drop.com/buy/massdrop-x-ferrum-forge-gent-selectThey can't make them fast enough to keep them in stock.
Spyderco pm2 has been wonderful and would be the only knife needed moving forward for me. Had a couple benchmade and i feel the pm2 is better
I wish there were more choices in knives --- sheeesh ....
Another vote for the Griptilians, both standard and mini. I've been carrying either one or the other for what seems about 15 years now. I abuse the schitt out of them and they just keep doing what a knife is supposed to do.
Went to an auction a few years ago and they guy that passed had a freighter load of those Saturday night gun and knife show Chinese knives. BIL and I bought a couple cases super cheap. Best investment ever. Throw about 6 of them in every glove box. Snap the tip off? Throw it in the trash and get a new one. Get dull and dont feel liek sharpening it? throw it in the trash and get a new one. Its like utility knife blades for pocket knives haha

“Manufactured in Guangdong China...” Takes it off my list.
I have a Benchmade Griptilian and a few Ontario Rat I’s. I’d rather carry the Rat’s......
I carry a Benchmade automatic made before they got Politically,Terminally Stupid. I guess I don't like enemies of the constitution. Be Well, Rustyzipper.
For you Spyderco fans, what’s your preferred locking mechanism?
Standard lock back?
Compression?
Thanks

I like both the compression lock and the ball bearing lock a lot. The ball bearing lock is sort of a beefed up version of Benchmade's axis lock. The back locks are fine too, but not as smooth and easy as compression and ball bearing locks.
