We love the M & P 9C with a Crimson trace grip.
( my wife's carry gun )

The Shield looks nice and slim.
Single stack, I assume.

Yes, it is a single-stack, slimline type piece. It looks good. I can't really see it being noticeably more concealable than the regular M&P C though.

I still think that most people need a bit smaller gun for their bag of tricks. For everyday carry in non-sub-tropical heat, the M&P C gets the nod for me though.
I'm all for a tiny carry gun
I carry the Diamond Back 9 everyday
and to places that I never should.
Because I can!
How is it working out? I got rid of my .22 Beretta because it just wouldn't feed good. I'm in need of something, if no ultra-compact, then close to it. I'm thinking Seecamp. The 32's are much cheaper than the .380's, but it's hard to not want the extra power since the guns are the same size. I saw a .25 Seecamp awhile back, but I just didn't want to go that small with again, the guns being the same size.
I meant to mention...I'm not a huge fan of slimlines in a package that small. I had a Kel Tec single-stack 9mm and it was very uncomfortable to shoot. I'm thinking the double-stack would have helped spread out the recoil. I may end up with a double stack Kel Tec .380. The M&P prints too badly in my front pants pocket.
I'm liking the Diamondback, more and more.
It's no target champ.
But at 20 -25 feet it holds plate sized groups.
You know it's a 9mm
at 11 oz it is at the very limit for that round.

I feel it's easier on the hand than the LCP .380.
That gun just stung me.
The mini Glock in 9 mm does not.
Others have reported all sorts of issues, but I got my in February. Shoot it every other week or so
And carry it full of Hornady Critical Defense.

Got it rat here. And don't plan on getting rid of it anytime soon.
The Shield (cheesy name) looks nice and might fit a niche for a lot of people. I think from what I've read so far Smith & Wesson did this one right. First, they made about 7,000+ of them before announcing them so they are on the market immediately. S&W also reached out to holster makers, ect. beforehand so they could have gear ready and available to the end user immediately. Ruger could take a lesson from S&W on this product release method I think.
Looks interesting!
(I wish Glock would do something like that!)
The Kahr P-9 fully fills that bill for me.

Essentially identical in proportions.
I took the Shield out today and put about 400 rounds through it, including some hot +p fiocchi stuff. It performed like a champ. This little gun will be my new daily carry. It shot exceptionally well for it's size and the trigger is the best I've felt in this class of gun. I was able to hold on target easily and control the gun very well. I was breaking clays at 20 yards with no problem. This gun is a keeper. Add the fact that you can get it for $400 in many places now, and this thing is a slam dunk. Home run by S&W.
I like the looks, tried rugers mini 9 today way to long a trigger pull for a gun that has an external saftey. M&P looks about right.

I might have to give it a try myself, despite being fully satisfied with my Kahr P-9. It's right up my ally, in terms of the sort of handgun I've settled on for daily concealed carry.
I have to wonder if they will come out with a variant without the thumb safety like they did with its big brother.

Ruger's missteps are what, more than likely, taught Smith that lesson. I'm amazed they were able to amass any real quantity of Shields before photos where leaked all over the internet.
The shield is going to sell like gangbusters. It's almost the perfect recipe for a great concealed gun. Glock fans (myself included) have been begging glock to make the single stack 9 for years now. They sure missed the boat on this one. By the time they get in the game, most of us will already be happy with our shields.
Am glad to have another choice in the single stack mini 9mm category. Like you, I was waiting for Glock to offer one. Tried and liked the LC9 until a friend needed it. So I'll be looking at the S&W as well as Kahr.
I sorta still haven't forgiven S&W for cowing to the Clintons. And I have somewhat of a problem with Kahr being SunMyungMoonie owned. Kind of my own dilemma, stay around $400 and trade away principles or jump to $700 and look at Kimber or Rorbaugh? Any skeletons in their closets?
I laid hands on one today at a Gun Show and almost bought it for $439. I just got a Kahr CW9 so it didn't make much sense. It seems like a nice little pistol.

What's the difference between the CW9 and the P9?

CW9 has conventional rifling. The front sight is staked-in plastic, and it comes with only one mag.

Hardly seems worth having a whole additional model designation for those differences. They should have called it the P-9 Economy Model.

Glock missed out, Diamondback made it!
Check it out.
It's tiny Glock in everyway!
( except it doesn't stay open on the last round)

Diamondback?
I have the DB9 0n me now.
I've had it since mid Feb.
Shot ? 200-300 through it.
No malfuntions
It holds 10" at 25 feet.
My only modification?
Sanding the inside of the trigger gaurd smooth.
But I do that with every poly pistol.

It hides on my person no matter what I am wearing.

S & W Shield?
No haven't seen one yet..
Did you say it holds 10" @ 25 feet?
