Ok, we have had a great thread showing off our Smith & Wesson's, let's see what everybody's Ruger revolvers look like. I'll start with my two 44 Redhawks.
And maybe a 45 Colt Redhawk.....
Bowen Nimrod 45 Colt built on a stainless Ruger Bisley
Ruger Single Seven 327 Federal Magnum:
Super Blackhawk 10.5" 44 Magnum:
Old Army:
Best buy in big bore revolver, dollar for dollar: stainless Ruger Bisley 45 Colt. This was before I sent it to Bowen.
One of the most accurate factory revolvers I've owned: Super Redhawk 480 Ruger.
It's not that I'm a S&W snob but shouldn't this thread be in the Nautical Forum under "Boat Anchors"?

.357 Maximum:
Bisley 44 Magnum:
Redhawk 44 Magnum:
Another 10.5" Super Blackhawk, heck of a buy for $250.

Pair of Bisley Flattops at the range:

Thanks, many of those I don't own anymore but I keep the pictures around as reminders. One nice thing about Rugers is that they tend to be more affordable than S&W's or Colts, particularly on the used market, so I've been able to try out quite a few in order to find out what I like and don't like.
.480 Blackhawk by Huntington:
Those punch bullets just make that picture! Great revolver too. The 480 Ruger is, to my mind, a truly underrated cartridge.
It's not that I'm a S&W snob but shouldn't this thread be in the Nautical Forum under "Boat Anchors"?

Yup

Bite your tongue. There is no bigger boat anchor than an X-frame.

Very cool. Is that a recent Linebaugh build or an older one?

Very cool. Is that a recent Linebaugh build or an older one?
It's an old build.
My pair of Bisley 44s. One a trimmed Hunter the other a Lipseys gun.
I ended up having to replace the front sight and ramp on the short one. The factory had soldered it on both off center and at an angle. I made a one piece front with a brass insert to replace it. Much better now but I don't have a picture.
That cut-down Hunter is pretty cool! Who did the work? Is the front sight still interchangeable?
Yes the front sight still interchanges and I did the work myself. It's cut at 5.5" and handles really well.

A lot of nice pieces showing up here. Looks like single actions outnumber double actions by about three to one.
Vaquero Bisley, 357, old style.
I think someone has a birthday coming up Doug, hopefully his son gets him another Ruger...

They both have been with me a long, long time. I have no complaints

Pretty obvious.
And some old oddball 44 Mag.

Wow! Some of you guys have got major collections of great looking guns there. Thanks for taking the time to share.
I love the 38/40 that Ed has.
Never understood a scope on a revolver.
.475 Linebaugh 5-shot Super Redhawk:
I love the 38/40 that Ed has.

I am a fan of that round.
480 Ruger. No, not a full patch load
357 blackhawk, pawnshop special that had plenty of holster rash and now shoots much better after replacing the 4 5/8" barrel with a 6" barrel and Taylor throating it. The Hogue grips are ugly as sin, but I shoot the gun much better with them vs. the plow handle.
Wife with her 45 colt convertable bisley
The 4.2" ss gp-100 is on my short list.
I love the 38/40 that Ed has.
Never understood a scope on a revolver.
I can't every see me packing a scoped revolver, but for working up loads in an accurate revolver they are indespensible. There is also a simple pleasure in shooting groups with a revolver that rival that of the average guy with a scoped rifle.
Whitworth1, You have some awesome revolvers to say the least, do you get time to shoot all of them????
I second that motion! And, that is some awesome wood on that .45 Colt Bisley!
I love the 38/40 that Ed has.

Dude
This has become my favorite revolver. It is the right size/weight for carry when outdoors but not hunting. I carry it in a Guide's Choice chest holster.
I do have a scoped revolver, but haven't hunted much with one. I can put a fly's eye out from a rest, but ain't comfortable with one off-hand, yet. Don't know that Ill ever be, it's just not a huge interest of mine.
I keep tying to find the perfect combo. So far, I like Leupold.
Whitworth1, You have some awesome revolvers to say the least, do you get time to shoot all of them????
I do, for the most part, and I hunt with most of them. Thank you!

Thanks, it's Claro walnut.

This is what mine looks like on the business end at 50 yds:
I don't have a picture of the gun.
The gun has to look good if it shoots like that.
Slightly less common 5.5" in .45 Colt

Dude
Who needs a 40 S&W?
Looking at Whitworth1's fine revolvers brought to mind an incident years ago, when I bought one of the first factory 4WD Toyota pickups from a dealer near where I lived who also sold Caddilacs. A friend whose late father had been a successful dentist told me his mother bought a new Caddy from them nearly every year. When I picked up my truck, I mentioned the lady to the salesman, who beamed and said, "Oh, yes, we sell A LOT of Caddilacs to Mrs. Petway!"
I would expect the same sort of comment if mentioning Whitworth1 to Bowen or the other custom single action builders!
That black .480 Blackhawk is really, really nice!

Actually, it's an occupational hazard. Some I keep, many get tested and moved on down the road, but all make it in print at some point.
Meant as an envious compliment.

And taken as such! But it's not so glamorous!
I feel like such a peasant. My bone stock .44 Special Flattop.

That's a pretty nice revolver for a peasant, Deflave!
Heart be still. Fortunately, I have the same gun.
From the top: "Beastlys" Two Bowens in .45 Colt and .41 Magnum, a .32 Magnum and a .44 Special Flattop. A GP100 and a Single Six .17 HMR, and an Old Army.
Great picture, Travis - and damn nice revolver, also!
My 2 Ruger revolvers, First is a Speed Six that my son carries in the woods and the second is my GP100 Wiley Clapp.

I still need to join the cool kids club.

Cerakote graphite black
Bowen front sight
Homemade claro grips
Trapper spring kit
Wow. There are some really, really nice Ruger photos in this thread!!
Here's my only contribution:
5.5" .45 Colt Blackhawk Bisley with Carrie Chapman grips. I added a Bowen Rough Country rear sight and had the action tuned by Will Collet of Ozona, TX. I've since added a Belt Mountain base pin. As it stands, it's one of my prettiest revolvers and at the same time one of my most useful backcountry/hunting handguns.
My Single Six
Bought this at an auction for next to nothing, most of the finish was gone, no pitting though. Bead blasted, Cerakoted graphite black, replaced broken grips and now it's one of my favorites.
OOOPS!!!!
That's not a Ruger.
Oh yeah.....I don't buy Rugers.
I only buy old and highly collectible Smiths.

There's a HUGE difference.

Holy fugg. You went out of your way to brag about these two items?
Few things funnier than a Pollock.
Travis
I mean don't get me wrong, I could see posting that on a Smith thread.
But some kind of Buck knife decorated by a drunk Indian? And that Smith? Here?
Probably also thinks 4 inches is HUGE. Dumb fuggin' Pollock.
Travis
I guess I'm just stuck in the past but I've never considered SS S&Ws "old". Some maybe collectible but "old"?
Just to get back sorta on track I'll throw up a pic when I get home tonite of a real peasant Blackhawk for Deflave. I have a dandy 357 that I gave $75 for, loose as a seaport hooker and pitted like an artillery range but it still shoots like crazy and doesn't mind rolling around in my floorboard. Trust me, it's bitchin.
I guess I'm just stuck in the past but I've never considered SS S&Ws "old". Some maybe collectible but "old"?
Yeah, I got a laugh out of that, too.
As for "peasant" guns, I still have my first Bisley in 45 Colt, which I bought myself for my 45th birthday. It's pretty beat up, but it sure does fling lead (especially the heavy kinda pieces of lead) purty good...
My Single Six
Bought this at an auction for next to nothing, most of the finish was gone, no pitting though. Bead blasted, Cerakoted graphite black, replaced broken grips and now it's one of my favorites.
That looks great.
Yep!
This thread makes me want some single actions. Nice stuff on here...
As promised the poor old peasant floorboard pistol. It shoots well enough that I don't dare mess with it, I've headshot grouse using button nose wadcutters in 38 cases. Only thing I did was trashcan the goofy Pachmyer presentation grips it came with.

4" barrel with warnings removed, steel ejector with checkered head, actin work ,including free spin pawls, round butt with polished grip frames, coca-bola grips, over size base pins fitted withshort knurled heads, Bowen Rough country rear sights, hammers have been jeweled. All in all nice little 22's.

That was the first thing I thought but then I saw who posted it.
Ignore him,, he's just looking for attention.
Back on topic.
I'm not much of a hand gunner but even a slacker like myself should have a Single Six,,, Right.
Oh yea,,,,, I also have a "somewhat" collectable Smith. (1946 K22)
4" Douglas barreled, round-butted Bisley Single-Six by Clements
Another 44 Special FlatTop.
And a 22 Mag.
.500 JRH Bisley by Huntington:
Thats the most attractive revolver I have ever seen.
I have an oddball Ruger Bisley 44 mag with a skinny 10.5" barrel and short ejector rod housing, never seen another one of those either.

Field, have the mate to that 1946 K!!! A beautiful thing.. Need to look for photos of my Rugers..

Travis
Like this?
This is originally a Magnum only piece and so marked. I fitted a LR cylinder to it. Shoots them both very well
I think we should all pitch in and get alukban some grips.
Travis
Here's my right out of the box 5-1/2" Bisley in 45 Colt distributed by Williams Shooter Supply. It does have one of Dave Clements tall front sights I installed. In front of it is the 335 LBT LFN I used in AK six years back to take my 62" Alaska Yukon bull moose, a 285 gr LBT WFN and a 230 FN for ACP.
The Trijicon RMR (RM08G) with the green 12.9 moa triangle gives my aging eyes a nice aim point when using the top of the triangle to aim with. The mount is by Amerigun USA.
The whole package, revolver/285 gr/RMR work quite well too at 25 yds.

Last October, I swapped into an old heavy-frame Vaquero with the 4 5/8″ barrel. Of course, it is a 45 Colt. Thought I better get a good photo up, before it gets beat to hell like all my other working guns.

The pics of the Bowens have me lusting for something like that to hunt with!

I see a lot of love for single action ruger revolvers. If I may ask, why or what attracts you to single action vs. double action revolvers?
I like both Ruger SA's and DA's. As to why I like the SA's, it's one of those things where when you pick one up it just feels right in your hand.

Balance and recoil handling. The only thing a DA revolver does better than an SA revolver is unload and reload quickly. That is a nice advantage, depending on your intended use, but if I'm shooting a truly hard-kicking cartridge, I'm going with an SA all the way.
That said, I own about twice as many DA revolvers as I do SA revolvers, but that may be because S&W wasn't making SA revolvers in the mid-20th century.
Two plain vanilla .45 Colt Rugers. 4 5/8 barrels, box stock.
Those old Bisley Vaqueros are sweet shooting guns.
Ronnie,
I bought the grips for the .41 quite some time ago from Lett or Ajax. Bought three different pair, different wood. All were graded fancy+. Knowing there is a slight variation in grip frames I figured of the three sets of grips that I bought the pair that fit the .41 best would have a new home and the walnut set has been on that revolver ever since.
I see a lot of love for single action ruger revolvers. If I may ask, why or what attracts you to single action vs. double action revolvers?
Because the OP was on Ruger revolvers. For DA's I much prefer S&W's but do own a couple of Ruger's.
