Very nice!!! Do you have the weight before you swapped it out?
Very nice.....how much will the scale weigh up to ???
A Sako in a McMillan is really close to perfection imo. Looks great!
Harv it was 7lbs and 8oz with the old stock.

I choose the regular fiberglass stock so it would be up in the 7.75lb range.

and yep it feels like beautiful, I'm spoiled.

Was it a drop in fit? How much? and last but not least it looks fantastic....................547.
Nice set up. Thats about as good as it gets. Enjoy!
547,

I bought the full installation job from McMillan so I didn't fit the stock to the rifle. Cost wise I got a break because I got it through Rick's Christmas special.

What was the turn around time?
5 Months

It takes 20 weeks for the regular "get a stock made" interval pluse 2 extra weeks if your having them do a full installation job with pillar bedding.

So this year I'm hoping Rick will have another Xmas special - the time frame works great!

My next one will be a swirly 60% black, 20% white, 20% dark gray for a Stainless 300 WSM Sako 85.

Looks pretty good Spot.

What are the odds of you pulling the action and taking a pic of the stock's 'innards'?
Very high quality rifle there. You couldnt improve it in any way.

I have the same rifle as your second one - the Stainless 85 in 300wsm. I would love to do the same stock but its just not practical to send my rifle over to the U.S. for fitting.

What is the cost of the stock?
mlg,

Stock is $435 via Rick Bin's 24hr campfire
Full install is another $260 (done by McMillan)

right around 700, or have your own smith bed it and order just the stock for $435.

Sam,

I can do that on Sunday, watch for some pictures.

So is that the Sako 75 Edge stock that you order?

Also, is there much modification to get it to fit the 85?

mlg
mlg,

It's a 85 Finnlight in 270 Winchester.

The 85 will fit into the older McMillan hunter stock, but not the newer 75 type.

Thanks Spot Shooter.

I bet that Finnlite feels very different with that Macmillan stock to the original. I know it would fit me like a glove.....

It does feel better than the original finnlight stock. Very solid, but light, and crisp.

Damn McMillan stocks are addictive, I have the exact same stock on my Model 70 358 winchester, but in the edge version so the weight is right about the same on both rifles.

Thanks dude, I'm heading out the door to go pop a few off...
Sam,

Momentary delay - what a crapola -

I was changing out the low Opti-Locks with the X-Low's, took off the old rings and was getting ready to put on the new ones and found out one of the new rings has a ring screw hole stipped out (SHOOT).

But it gets better, as I was putting the old rings back on I spun the allen key in one of the ring screw heads - damn soft screws!

I decided to take a break before I broke anything else.

McMillan has my 85 Finnlight as we speak. They're dropping it in a Sako Classic in the Edge technology with full install that includes the pillar bedding. I'm excited about getting it back!! I hope mine looks as good as yours.
OCC, That should be sweet. Almost as sweet as this old Av...[Linked Image][Linked Image] Grin
very very nice, can you specify the LOP on these stocks? A Sako finlight in one would be very nice, the regular finnlight stock has too long LOP for me.
Nice, very nice....

Makes me want a new Sako badly!

Yeah, like a Sako 85 finnlite 270 wsm sitting in a Sako Classic edge.
I am thinking a M85 Stainless/synthetic in 338Win, with a Mickey.
Sweet...
grin
Mine is 13.5".
It is a mid 80's Fiberclass that has been electroless nickled.
I am looking forward to pics of OCC's when it comes back.
Hard to not love a Sako. smile
Sid Gray,

those stainless conetrols look awesome. What grade are your dap tar bases???
could be a less expensive way to an accurate semicustom gun, a stock upgrade on an 85 finnlight is interesting, the actions are pretty good, everyone says they are accurate, but I did not like the factory stock in construction or LOP.
Those are out of the bin bases that a hunting pard contoured for me. They are actually electroless nickle in a satin.
They look better than Conetrols stainless bases and rings.

Lordy, that is nice.
Thanks, Sam
