I was looking at the Winchester website and noticed they have a new stainless version of the ultimate shadow.

http://www.winchesterguns.com/products/catalog/detail.asp?family=001C&mid=535135

The first difference that I can see between the US and extreme weather is the injection molded stock, and also the lack of fluting. Neither are important to me as I would restock it anyway and I can carry the extra couple ounces on the barrel.

What I DO want to know is if there are any other differences? Is the barreled action as good as an EW? Accuracy expectations?

thanks in advance, fellas

Discussed a bit earlier in the week...

There should be no other differences besides the stock and fluting.

Should be a great rifle at a very good price IMO.
Thanks Brad, I did a search for shadow in the title so that didn't show up. So drop the B&C and fluting and that saves $300??? I was thinking they must have cut corners somewhere else, too.

It has a 24 barrel, which I believe will also have the Sporter contour and crown. CP.
Yup, the 06 length guns have longer barrels. What I'm really getting at though are the chambers/bores/rifling cut w/ same care and precision as the ew, action tolerances as good, etc.

I dont know for for sure so I cant speak for certainty but I would venture to guess they are all cut and machined the same.

I have owned a few BACO Model 70's (243, 270 WSM and 2 270 WCF's) in featherweight and sporter configs. They have all shot well.

I also noticed the new addition of these rifles, I plan to get one in .308 as soon as they are available.
