Any body seen any of these yet. Brown truck stopped at my FFL today and left this. Supposed to be the only one in the country. I am a lucky dog.

Good for you! A favorite caliber!

Nope, now tell us where and how you got it! (grin).
Posted By: Crowkiller Re: 700 260 SPS - 04/05/14
I have my local gun shop looking for one of those for me. I hope to have it this year, I'm actually very happy to see one has been produced!

Open your box so I can check it out please.

There's a new one on GB. Must be from Canada.
Posted By: Esox357 Re: 700 260 SPS - 04/05/14
Hope you find one! If I get desperate I will pull the barrel off a 308 win and put a new tube on it or find a Sako?

I can't/shouldn't even start thinking about a 260 at the moment, still looking for a 338 win mag!

Son, you can't handle what is in that box.

NICE, now if we could just talk Forbes Rifles into twisting things right!

They made at least two!

good donor for a 7-08 retube....:-),,kidding,...kidding...:-)

That would be a good one with a couple mods like a cut and crown to 22" and a good stock.
Posted By: JPro Re: 700 260 SPS - 04/05/14
I'd put it in an Edge Mountain Rifle stock and cut it back to 21-22". I will be curious to see how these rifles are throated. My last Remington .260 would let Accubonds just touch the lands at 2.815".

I see that. Dang, them gun salesmen are worse than car salesmen. Well, at least I have mine. I looked at the add and it is a good price, kinda funny how everyone wanted Rem to bring this out and no body has jumped on it.
Posted By: Lonny Re: 700 260 SPS - 04/05/14
Good deal. Hopefully more are in the pipeline.
Posted By: greentimber Re: 700 260 SPS - 04/06/14
It's not the only one, or two....

Buddy picked up his almost two weeks ago. Mine should be here soon according to Remington. Game Scout EDGE is ready and waiting.
Posted By: Shag Re: 700 260 SPS - 04/06/14
You suck.

GT, When I found this one the week before last, The dealer was told that it was the only one (in country) from his wholesaler.
I see there are two on GB now. The one for $578 is a bargain, if I were you I would buy it and not wait for the one you have on order. Who knows how you you could wait.
Posted By: RDW Re: 700 260 SPS - 04/06/14
How soon will you be able to check the lands distance to the mag box?
Posted By: woofer Re: 700 260 SPS - 04/06/14
Looks just like a 9T 7-08 smile Wonder if they waited to long to capitalize on the 260 fever and did the 26 Nosler have a nudge in this...

Man, you make me sick....

Only reason for a 1/8 twist is....... if it can seat a 140 Berger in the magazine and kiss the lands. Let us know...

Otherwise cut and crown at 22" and rechamber to a Creedmore.

Posted By: shortactionsmoker Re: 700 260 SPS - 04/07/14
No way the Berger will kiss at mag length in an OEM 700 260. If it was throated to do such, traditional bullets (and factory ammo) would be a no-go.

I've been watching for one of these to pop up at the LGS.....none yet.

Sorry, I will work on being better. I did not think this would make you sick.
Posted By: wyoming260 Re: 700 260 SPS - 04/07/14
Try 130 gr bergers in it! I have never loaded a different bullet in my .260. Plenty good and faster then expected.

P.S. forget what everyone says about powder also , if you can find Reloder 17 for your .260 use it!

Soooo many comments come to mind....

1. "So what's ya gunna do wif' 'dat Willis?"
2. "That ain't no elk gun son..."
3. "Where's the Hello Kitty sticker or did Remington rip you off on that too?"
4. "It's sorta cute, where do I put the BB's in?"
5. "Special purpose? Special what? Maybe Special Ed...."
6. "Frick, 'dem boo-lets 'ill jus' bounce of 'dem elkskins..."
7. "You've come along way Pilgrim, from 338 Ultra Mags and now to Peashooters"

And lastly, "You ain't huntin' with the Indian carrying THAT little thing! crazy

I am ashamed.

I bought a box of Barnes TSX 120s today to try in my Rem 725 reblled with a 700 TI takeoff. Now that it has 200 or so rounds down the bbbl.

And those 140 Corelokts are shooting (and working!) so well....

Just checking...dontcha know.... L)
Posted By: Seafire Re: 700 260 SPS - 04/08/14
and here are a few of us out here who have a Rem VLS in 260, that they couldn't give away....I even bought a take off barrel brand new off of one.... local gunshop was picking them up cheap, spinning the barrels off, putting something else on them, and then they would sell...

got that new take off barrel for $50.....

by the way, mine will stabilize 140 and 142 Match Kings just fine, but 120 Match Kings I feed it more of...that along with 100 grain A Maxes, 100 gr Ballistic Tips and 120 grain Ballistic Tips..
Posted By: turkish Re: 700 260 SPS - 04/09/14
To be sure, these SPSs are blued, not stainless, right? The GB photos are stockhotos but show SS.
Posted By: 338Rem Re: 700 260 SPS - 04/09/14
Blued. The adds generally say it is not the actual gun.
Posted By: Crowkiller Re: 700 260 SPS - 04/10/14
Just got a call from my local gun store. Mine will be here next week!
Posted By: Esox357 Re: 700 260 SPS - 04/10/14
Budsgunshop has them for the moment. Stainless/Synthetic.
Posted By: 338Rem Re: 700 260 SPS - 04/10/14
Hey E, look at the product number on my box, it is the same number that Pud's, I mean Bud's guns has and the picture is a stainless rifle.
Posted By: Esox357 Re: 700 260 SPS - 04/10/14
Nice, well they are out now! Only have Mod 7 in .260 for a minute?
Posted By: Crowkiller Re: 700 260 SPS - 04/10/14
None are stainless.
Posted By: 338Rem Re: 700 260 SPS - 04/10/14
Zactly.

looks like budz is outta stock to me. yall cleaned em out

ive wondered why they didnt do an sps varmint in this cal. the tactical crowd would be all over it.

That's why they make Cerakote
Posted By: Esox357 Re: 700 260 SPS - 04/11/14
Afternoon time there was a SPS 260 Stainless/Synthetic, must have been an error on buds? Oh well thought I would give a head up if it helped, but the stainless 260 is elusive.
Posted By: turkish Re: 700 260 SPS - 04/11/14
According to Remington's site (I know, I know) the new 260 chambering is not offered in the SS SPS, only the std blued model.
Posted By: Esox357 Re: 700 260 SPS - 04/11/14
Like a unicorn! Well Remington is behind the curve like usual on this one.
Posted By: JPro Re: 700 260 SPS - 04/11/14
This has been discussed. The 1-8" twist 260 is somewhat of a specialty item, appealing mostly to enthusiasts. What does Remington do? They only offer it in the Wal-Mart grade blued version. No SS version, no tactical/target version, even though those are the rifles that enthusiasts get all geeked up about.

I'm glad to see the SPS as an offering, but Remington keeps cutting the hamstrings out from under some of their ideas.
Posted By: Esox357 Re: 700 260 SPS - 04/11/14
It amazes me they designed the cartridge and pretty much limited it to a model 7 rifle for hunting? Think they would throw it in a 5 r milspec at the minimum for paper punchers and stand hunters?
Posted By: Seafire Re: 700 260 SPS - 04/11/14
They did make it in the VLS.... only for a year or two.. they didn't sell.. I ended up with one of them...

You mean I can't hunt with mine? Dang, might as well sell it. Schidt.

I would have one on order if Remington offered a SS version.

I'm a bit jealous. I recently picked up a Salvage 16 in 260 on a whim for a truck gun. My son loved my Model 7 and I didn't have the heart to take it from him.

Congrats.

Remington did make a cdl sf in .260 for one year also , which I am lucky to own one . It shoots 1/2""- 3/4" groups with factory federal 120gr. Ballistic tip , so I never found a reason to reload for it.

So what are the chances these are included in the trigger recall?

Can't know, I am going to put one of the older triggers on it anyway.
Posted By: Crowkiller Re: 700 260 SPS - 04/19/14
Well, the distributor would not ship mine due to the trigger recall. In the time honored campfire tradition, I'd like to say: " Remington, GFY".
