I'm looking for a casual carry gun while knocking around in the woods. I want a 7mm-08, 20" barrel, bolt action, stainless/synthetic, iron sights. Does this combo exist in a factory rifle?

About as close as you're going to get is an older Ruger boat-paddle or similar and then add sights as/if necessary. A NECG banded front sight and one of their receiver/peep sights for the integral Ruger bases would be a good set up what you're considering.
Closest I know of is a savage hog hunter in .223 or 308. I dont know of anything in 7mm08 if you want / need open sights.
Try a Steyr Professional or a Steyr Mountain rifle.
You will be duly impressed as to the value, accuracy and trigger.
Best,
GWB
Possibly rebarrel a 308 but I don't see what would be gained. The 308 is a darned good caliber.
The Howa doesn't have the open sights the OP wants. That feature eliminates every rig I can think of.

Oh yes you're right.
Hell, I'd buy the 22" rifle I wanted have it cut down, recrowned, william's or necg sights put on it. Easy peasey if you know a decent smith.
Yep- Can't think of one in 7-08 factory.
77/44 is a great little gun, but nowhere close to a 7-08. I'd look for a SS/Syn 7-08 of your preference and chop, then mount sights.

No doubts about that.
Hicks in Alabama has the 7-08s for 649.
Might want to run some SS action screws just in case.
Remington made model 7 with sights and 20 inch barrels. Not sure if they came SS with synthetic.
What are these "iron sights" you speak of? They are never debated in the optics forum? Do they gather more light?

Yep, they gather ALL of the light! But the magnification sucks the older you get!
Doesn't Nosler make a rifle now with open sights ?

Yes, but you can just buy a bigger objective when you get older, correct?
Can't imagine MRC not being willing to do that for you...
Does Steyr chamber the 7mm-08 in their Scout rifle?
Handy, iron sights (fold up ghost ring) and can carry spare 5 round mag in buttstock. Plus integral bipod.
Sons .308 Scout is very nice.
Cheers, Chris
Tikka makes the T3 Lite Stainless in the MT version with a 20-in barrel. No sights, and Beretta hates you, so you can't get it.
CZ 557 carbine in 6.5x55 be close, but probably no cigar...
Remington has brought back the Model Seven Stainless/Synthetic with the 20" barrel (24741). They also have the 18.5" blued with irons and the laminate schnabel stock (85962).
Look closely at the Nosler Outfitter.
There's the Ruger Gun Site Scout but only in 308 or 223.
Pharm, I had a S.S. Ruger 77 RSI 7mm-08 with factory open sights that I sold here a few years ago great gun that I should have kept! Every thing you want except a 18 1/2 in. barrel not 20"
There was another one like mine that the owner had removed it from the Full wood stock and restocked that was for sale here
a few years ago that he might still have?
Only other would be a Browning S.S. BLR 7mm-08 TD
A little cerakote and it would be perfect you'd think.
Easy to get what you want with a little work. Barrels can be hacksawed and trued with a Brownells crowning tool. Then it's pretty simple to mount a NECG banded front sight with epoxy. I've done this twice now and will be doing an '06 shortly. Let me know if your intersted and I'll post more details on mounting the front sight.

Ruger Gunsite Scout in 308 is the way to go.
308, pretty close....
And that's a tikka... Pharm loves tikkas
That deal in SS 1:8 243 sans sights would be sweet.
Can't say that too loud, Darrik might be listening.
Local gun shop has a Model Seven that is all you want except SS .... buy it and give it your favorite coating to protect it and live long and shoot straight.
Good Luck
Want open sights installed on your rifle? I had some installed on rifles by these folks:
http://www.williamsgunsight.com/gunsights/gunsightsdefault.htmThey have the sights and do professional installations. They have a complete gunsmithing shop, and can even build you a complete custom rifle.
http://www.williamsgunsight.com/gunsmith_service_michigan.htm All it takes is sending them the barreled action. Even I can do that at the local UPS hub, and I ain't none too smart.
