I have two a 260 & a 308 SS planned on turning the 308 into a 358win. but made the mistake of shooting it.
Both shoot very well -sorry no pictures I'm too sick with sore throat to mess with it.
Here's a couple of threads I found with plenty of Model Seven pictures and talk .

This is my daughter's Model 7 CDL .260. We removed the wood stock and dropped the action in a Bell & Carlson. It's a shooter and she's harvested some nice deer with it.

My two favorite hunting rifles are Model 7's. Both actions have been squared up, lapped, fitted with new barrels,(One is a Pac Nor and the other is a Hart, don't ask me which is which.) triggers and HS Precision Stocks. All the mods were done by a Pro. The rifle on the left is a 338 Federal I've posted on the Fire before. The rifle on the right is a 260 Remington. Both will shoot better than I can and the two cartridges cover about anything I'm likely to run into that needs a centerfire rifle.

7mm Saum in a M700 SPS takeoff stock that I modded to fit. Gun shoots most any bullet you run through it less than a inch.

Any idea on the weight with those HS stocks?
Posted By: Mathsr Re: Let's see your Model 7's - 06/05/16
Soloman, the 338 Fed is the closest one to the original size of the Model 7. It weighs 7.5 lbs empty, with a Leupold VX II 2X7 scope and steel mounts. It has a barrel that is probably one size bigger than the original 308 barrel and about an inch longer.

I wasn't going for light weight hunting rifles with the two Model 7's, but ones that were accurate, reliable, comfortable to carry and shoot. I had some heavy rifles and if the Model 7's gained a little weight in the conversion, but still came in at less than 8 lbs ready to hunt, I was going to be happy. I picked the HS Precision because it has a feel that is fuller and rounder than some other stocks I've tried.

Hope this helps.

I wanted an SS 350 Mag and Ruger hadn't come out with theirs yet so I built this on a 300 SAUM action. PACNOR matched the short mag contour. I'd like to find a KS stock to put it in! Sold the MS because the stock couldn't handle our weather.

Ingue,
The CDL stock in your photo is that standard rem mod 7?

I would like to get hold of one if it is, building a 300 sav on a rem 700 action, I have a classic take off barrel and I was thinking that shortened to rem 7 barrel length in a stock like that would be just what i'm looking for

Yes, it is a standard issue. once in a long while you'll see one advertised in the classifieds here.

Never had a M7. Might have to do something bout that.
Alaska Lanche that is a beauty! Those black rings and scope caps though......haha. Personal preference.

I have posted this picture a few times but it's still one of my favorite rifles. 243 with a 24" take off from an SPS. This thing is way more accurate than I am, but I am working on that. Everything but the action and rings/bases were purchased from members here on the 'fire.

Got a question on the M 7,how is it different than the SA M 700?
http://rifleshooter.com/2015/05/remington-model-seven-and-700-comparison/
Thanks Hank.
No problem. Way easier seeing pictures than having someone like myself try to explain it all. smile I am 5'9" and I find the ergonomics of the model 7 to be perfect for me.
Tossing the idea around of buying a M 7 in 6mm Rem and re-barreling it to .22/6mm. The .22/6mm I own right now weighs darn close to 11 lbs with bi-pod on it. Want a rifle that's 3-4 lbs lighter.

That .243 of yours is kinda what I'm thinking of.
You should have no problem getting it to where you want it weight wise. I could shave some weight with a stock from McMillan, but it shoots so well that now I am hesitant to change anything. I personally really like the longer barrel, I can shoot it really well offhand and it adds a bit in velocity. It is slightly barrel heavy but the wood stock helps offset that a little.
I just want to re-barrel and then go kill coyotes with it.

Not wanting to spend a serious amount of money on the project. So whatever stock comes with the rifle, that'll be the one I'll use.

Have a more expensive project waiting in the wings.
I think you will like it, makes a perfect carry rifle for calling. The synthetic ones aren't bad at all.
The synthetic would be the one I want. Just got to find a 6mm Rem in a synthetic stock. wink
Good luck in your search! I will keep my eye out.
Thanks.

Just curious, but if you're going to rebarrel, why would you start with a less common, more expensive, donor in 6mm? Lots more 243s, 7mm-08s, and 308s out there that would allow you to launch at a lower price.

Perhaps the least economical build that I've seen on a Model Seven action was a guy who bought a 7 laminated mannlicher for the action and then sold the barrel and stock for $150.
Yup,a .243,7/08 or .308 would be a lot cheaper to start with. wink
