Tossing the idea around of buying a M 7 in 6mm Rem and re-barreling it to .22/6mm. The .22/6mm I own right now weighs darn close to 11 lbs with bi-pod on it. Want a rifle that's 3-4 lbs lighter.
That .243 of yours is kinda what I'm thinking of.
Just curious, but if you're going to rebarrel, why would you start with a less common, more expensive, donor in 6mm? Lots more 243s, 7mm-08s, and 308s out there that would allow you to launch at a lower price.
Perhaps the least economical build that I've seen on a Model Seven action was a guy who bought a 7 laminated mannlicher for the action and then sold the barrel and stock for $150.
