Simple recipe and it will get rid of those extras that you have that fall off the vine or hang on a little to late in the year. Here is the recipe.

2 large green tomatoes 2 eggs (separated) milk to cover 1 cup flour 2 teaspoon baking powder half teaspoon of salt 1 teaspoon sugar 2/3 cup milk pich of ground mace veggie oil(deep frying depth)

Core the tomatoes and slice them. COver them with milk. It takes the acid out of them. Sift together your flour baking powder and salt. Stir in the egg yolks, mace, sugar and milk. Beat the egg whites until they stiffen then fold them into the batter. Heat the oil to about 370 degrees. Dip the tomatoes in the batter and fry until golden brown. (about 5 minutes) Drain them on a paper towell and serve hot.

These things are great. The recipe also works with apples and you can skip the milk bath as they have no acid taste to them.

Enjoy and thank me later.
Sounds great, NYSavageFan. As soon as our Florida tomatoes are green, again, I will give your recipe a try. Here's one for you, and the rest of the gang:

Pan-fried Green Tomatoes

2 medium green tomatoes, cut in 8 wedges each
1 medium sweet onion, diced into 1/2" pieces
4 Tablespoons butter
1/3 cup Italian Style Bread Crumbs
1/3 cup grated Parmesan Cheese
salt & pepper to taste

Over medium heat, melt butter in 12" fry pan, add cut green tomato wedges and a fourth of the onion pieces. As the tomato browns, toss and add another fourth of the onion pieces. Toss two more times as it cooks, adding more onion each time. Sprinkle with bread crumbs and parmesan cheese. Add more butter if needed to brown bread crumbs. When bread crumbs are golden and cheese has melted, serve and enjoy.
All right now we got us a regular green tomato cook book in the works.
Thanks a bunch
So if they're green, is it a fruit or a vegie?
Its a fruit no matter what, and if it cooks up good, it is gone!
