Planning on doing my second build and not sure what stock to go with. I've new to this rifle building thing as my first build is at Jon Beanlands being screwed as i write this.. This is a light build and now i'll have a light rig and a med weight hunting rig. Really want to build a 10 lb or so rig that i can do some long range play with maybe some groundhog killin. I'm either going to use a trued Rem action or a Stiller or Difiance if money allows. Going with a Brux #5 in a 7 mag fluted and a brake. Want this as a primary prone shooting rig and have never seen let alone been able to play with the A5, A3, or Gamescout. What do you guys like? Pro's, Con's of each?

Thanks Roy
I have a couple of A5's, which I love for their intended purpose, but I'd like to try a GS for a LR packing rifle.

Roy-for what you're building and using it for, there is no doubt in my mind the A3 is the choice. I just finished up two builds (a 7 Mag and a .284 Win) with the same components you listed, both in A3's, and they turned out perfect. Here's the .284.

With a reasonably low scope/ring combo, adjustable cheekpiece isn't neccessary. With a 56MM objective and Med. or High rings, get the adjustable cheek.

What are the differences between the A5, A3 and the Gamescout?

Roy
The Game Scout was designed precisely for what you want to do here, RTSJ. go EDGE fill and you'll be able to hit 10lbs all up with no trouble.

Have you considered Precision Stockworks?

Don't overlook the Remington Hunter. Very comfortable to shoot, yet not too bulky for hunting.
