I just sent an inquiry to McMillan today...
Posted By: msuhunter Re: Uh-oh - 09/21/14
When did you order it? I'm at five months and figure at least 3 more. I know what they are doing. The longer they take the more I order. If I had to pay up front for all of it I wouldn't order any but taking 8 months gives me enough time to pay the first one off and find another one and start paying on it.
Posted By: ingwe Re: Uh-oh - 09/21/14
I didn't order it.yet. Just an inquiry on a style/color/inlet.

But I think Im in trouble .I can faintly taste kool-aid eek

Don't worry, I have faith that Ingwe will get a hella cool McMillan and rightly goatphuck it with a 1-16" twist.

Because 16 is twice as good as an 8 twist?

I hear they'll stabilize almost any bullet..

Or I might just stick with the 1 in 12I only need one that 50% better than a 1 in 8... grin

The only problem is after receiving your Mcmillan, you may be really disappointed in your B&C stocks and need to order a bunch more Mcmillans!

One thing to keep in mind is that every Swirly is different. Even if you send in a pic and say "Duplicate this", it may not turn out like you pictured. But that's ok, Swirlies are like snow flakes, each unique and cool in it's own way.
Posted By: ingwe Re: Uh-oh - 09/21/14
YeahI know you are right on both countsbut I am willing to risk buying more than one stock.

I also know about the chances of duplicating a swirlyso I asked if they thought they could approximate the one in the photo

We shall see.

Sooo, to those of you who have tasted the kool-aid, whats the present realistic waiting time?

Ha! laugh

Seriously though, I still like the TI stocks. One of the best deals out there in hunting stocks, especially for those who got in on the Numrich buy a couple years back.

That rifle was repossessed by the original owner after I put it in that uber stock. I have a weird feeling he's barrel shopping to turn it into something fancy.

I like McMillans. My favorite pattern is the McMillan (Sako) Hunter. I prefer the swirly's with standard fill. I don't know why, but the painted stocks with Edge fill don't get me too excited. They're light and nice, but I just like the molded in colors better.

Mistem on here has a nice looking flame on a Tikka. I stole his pic a while back!

Got my first one in August - right @ 7 months.

22HP, based on 25 Remington cases to eliminate the rim, should be SWEET.

So maybe I do have time to save for one.providing of course that the Angel of Death doesn't show up.

I found you a used Rascal on Craiglist for $35.....so you don't have to walk picking up cans.

It has a basket up front for extree shart catchers and dual baskets in the rear for can colleting.

The orange flag is free.....

You should!

Actually, I was sitting in a stand early Friday evening, getting soaked to the bone in a pouring rain, thinking to myself, "Man, I sure hope MRC sealed this stock!"

By the way, not a single animal showed itself in that deluge, proving once again that most animals have a lot more sense than me. grin
Posted By: ingwe Re: Uh-oh - 09/22/14
Its getting a stainless rifle stuck in it for those very reasons.so I'll have some nice and durable to keep me company while Im not shooting anything. grin

One of the AIs will go in it Im pretty sure.

And if not them the std. 223 with the 1 in 10 twist I do the bulk of my varmint shooting with.

I know the feeling!

For about 9 months now I've been fighting the urge to order a MRC XWR in 7x57 to match the ASR. We'll see how I do as the rains continue to fall (which they are doing as I type).

But there's just something about putting a 7x57 in stainless and Tupperware.

Yeahits just wrong. Kinda like finally getting a date with Heidi Klum, then putting a bag over her head.
Posted By: RevMike Re: Uh-oh - 09/22/14
I'm not quite sure it's that drastic!
Posted By: ingwe Re: Uh-oh - 09/22/14
Perhaps. Both both are horrible to think about.

Not too late to really make it shine, with a 12 twist in 222 mag, nice wood and a variable scope. This project hasn't passed the point of being a complete waste of time and money....

The neat thing about ordering a Mcmillan for a standard type inlet like a SA 700 is that if you get tired of looking at yours, it should sell in the classifieds in about ten minutes!
Posted By: ingwe Re: Uh-oh - 09/23/14
And mine will be inletted for a SA 700.

In case I hate it, and need to sell it to get back to my beloved B&Cs laugh

Not really. I'm going cold turkey on new Mcmillans. Kind of had a problem there for a couple years!

Psssst, there goes the air out of that idea. I was going to offer you a NIB McEdge for only a slight premium over retail plus (2) of those 35 gallon bags of cans... It's a KS Mdl 7 stock. Tisk tisk.
