Good luck this weekend, and keep those Savages dry!
Yeah; I'm going to camp downstream from Loggah's, just in case. crazy grin grin

Just kiddin Don; I know your high and dry.
It already went rippin' by us. My buds in the Bahamas got their asses kicked
Hell,,,,,we're used to weather. we be alright!!!!!!!!!!!! grin grin But thanks for the concern.
Took my youngest and his best bud trap shooting ahead of the front coming in. They estimate that I'm gonna get 8 inches of rain in the the next 36 hours.

A great afternoon. Went through 3 boxes of Remington clays. Shot the B. Rizzini, 1870's vintage W&C Scott 10 gauge, Remington 1894 damascus 12 SXS, Ruger Red label 20 and Winchester circa 1930 model 12 in 16 gauge.

Now I am about to munch on a venison sausage sandwitch with peppers and onions after downing a half dozen Bass ales by the pool. Truly a memorable afternoon.
Doug, I built a berm near the back door of the vault ,got room for a sump pump just in case the river comes up to high !!!!
Keep it dry Loggah!!!
i can always move the guns upstairs, 400+ guns and a ton of ammo will suck lugging up one flight of stairs !!!! crazy crazy Don
Much storm damage at home. Trees down, electricity off, etc. Warned to stay away, so I'll stay hunkered down where I'm at.
Looks bad in a lot of places based on what I can see on TV, but could have been much worse. Hope y'all come out okay!
Lost power for about 10 hours and had to take about 10 inches of water total out of the pool (5 inches 2X), three bridges near me are all closed with the last convenient one open for me to get to work tomorrow.

Trees are still down and block another artery out of my neighborhood. Other than that all is good. The man cave is dry as a bone.
Storm was pretty much a fizzle here. All is well. Thanks.
Maybe I spoke too fast. I should have said it was a fizzle for my area. I have been trying to call Loggah, but no answer. His area really got belted with heavy rain. He has a river right behind his place and there is a dam on it that officials are really concerned will breech at any moment. River keeps rising and they think the dam is at it's full capacity. Downstream from an entire campground was lost including all of the campers that were there. Let's hope we hear from Don SOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UPDATE:JUST HEARD FROM LOGGAH. HE IS FINE. RIVER WATER IS MANAGABLE SO FAR. HE ANTICIPATES NO PROBLEMS. LOSS OF POWER AND LOSS OF INTERNET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LBK...try and keep us updated...not bad here in Manch-Land, but Don's area in particular got hammered...he is probably busy keeping it in check...hell, he could pitch a few stones with those mitts of his and shore the Campton damn single handedly!
Seriously, hope all is well!
...not quick enuff on my posts....you updated yours as I typed! That is good for DON!
No more updates. He says all is well and that WMUR is dramatizing and embelishing a situation that is nothing new to the folk that live in his area. He says that dam has been there since 1932. It ain't going anywhere!!!!!!!
Lots of trees (one in my backyard) and limbs down here in Lancaster County Pa. Corn too, silage harvest is going to be a cast iron biotch. Only had about 3 inches of rain in my neck of the woods but I did hear about some bridges on the Conestoga River being closed.

We 'missed' by a bit. Rain was extremely heavy in the upper end of the drainage, and the creek crested here right "at" flood stage at the USGS station two miles upstream at 9 PM. But the drainage opens up between here and there enough to spread it out...this time just enough. There's a bit o' water in the basement this morning, but that is not all that uncommon. Sump is working. Minor wind damage. We were a bit luckier than many, just north and east. NE PA took it pretty hard, and the North Branch is gonna be a mess for a while yet. Dushore, PA had nearly 9" of rain in 10 hours!!! That 42 miles from here, and in the top of the 'Sock drainage that runs behind our home. Had they had one more inch, I'd be writing you from a house boat.
Everything here appears fine, i got to go check on my sugarhouse ,its in the lowground !! Don
Glad your all OK
I have been thinking about you yankees (big smile) all weekend. I'm glad there has been no devistating news in the group. Having gone through Katrina, 6 years ago taday, I know many of you will have a lot of cleaning up to do.
Glad those who've checked in are doing well. Any Vermonters checked in? News reports don't look good from there. Waiting to hear from daughter in Boston and son in a Naval reserve function on the coast of Rhode Is. and sister living on the Chesapeake near the Rapahanock River. Oops, son just texted...all OK there.

FYI: sunny and 64 degrees here in the Southern Appalachians/Valley of Virginia. Sorry guys...couldn't resist it!
Looked like the center would have gone right over Jed/Lauren. Hope their buildings and tree farm weathered it okay.
Finally made it home. Lost a couple of big trees, evidence of trees down across the road outside of driveway. Power out needless to say. I'm told not to expect it back on 'til Friday. Looks like I'll be camping out here at work. The campus is an island of electricity in a sea of power outage- weird. Walked across town with the din of chain saws everywhere. Lots of firewood!

Thank God the storm had toned itself down a bit by the time it hit here or it could've been a lot worse. Storm surge in from C'peake Bay hit the downtown City Dock area at low tide and that's what saved a lot of businesses.
Welll the sugar house had about 3' of water in it!! some stuff disapeared, like buckets and barrels ,my 500 gallon holding tank is in the middle of my field!!! slimey ,silty, mud on everything will have to pressure wash everything when the road becomes solid again ,but 1/2 our wood is covered with silt also ,could be a biitch to burn next spring !!!!! crazy crazy was luck my dozer and brothers tractor were down there ,but the water didn't quite get high enough to bother them. We lost one of our three covered Bridges and a second one was badley damaged !!!!oh well time marches on !!!! grin
Wish we had some of that rain water here. It would take several inches just to fill the cracks in the ground.

Glad to hear that those checking in are okay. Have my finger crossed for the balance.
180,000 RI homes (55%); 600,000 CT homes; & 800,000 NJ homes w/o power - many of which needed same for water well pumps.

East of the Connecticut River, mostly high winds uprooted & broke off trees & limbs which lended on & took out power lines/poles, transformers, & substations.

West of the river, besides the above, were high levels of rainfall leading to catastrophic flooding in Northern NJ, NY, and all of VT - which also wiped out homes, roads, bridges & other infrastructure.

And some poo-poo'd, before Irene hit, that it was only a piddling catagory 1 hurricane................

I'm just glad that I'm not like some in Tornado Alley, sitting in the middle of my property, w/o walls or roof.
My heart really goes out to any who've lost their homes - never mind a loved one.

.
Every road in southern Vermont that allows east west travel is closed. No way to get from NH to NY through southern Vermont.
The Mohawk was up 15' above normal, we lost a couple big trees in the wind, but none of it got indoors for us, and no injuries. Lots of folks around here lost their belongings to the high water...very sobering. This is our back yard, the high water mark is at the tip of my shovel.

I live in Prattsville NY. I am about 2 miles outside the village at 1860' elevation. I was lucky, but some weren't. The whole village is gone. I have friends that lost everything. Most of the businesses are out of commission for a long time. Greene County here in NY took a big time hit, especially in the mountains. Ulster and Delaware counties got hit hard too. Some communities are completely wiped out. Time to pick up the pieces and move on.
My prayers go out to you and your community catsranger. I saw the FEMA photo-op on the news...doesn't tell the story of the emotional wreckage.
Thanks!!! Alot of people need the prayers!!
Lots of rain here. Some wind. Nothing extraordinary. Keene is just up the road a bit,got hammered.
Keene NY
Thanks for the link. Sad, sad, sad. I see destruction like that here every time we have a hurricane or Nor'easter. Which is way too often.
