How about weekly/monthly photo thread featuring personal savage 99's by model, caliber or something else. Have Rick make the choice and everyone post photos of their individual rifles. I like seeing 99's that have been put away in dark safes. Tom

Great idea!

I'm game. I'll do more looking than posting. But, I might just have to go find some more Savage's so I can post. I'd like to see other Savage's also. A couple weeks ago someone posted a pic of an early Savage bolt, I think it was a 1904, with a Swiss style crescent butt, that really perked me up. Now I want one of those, Joe.

Do we get extra points if we use a perky model?!
Posted By: TomA Re: Perking up the Forum - 04/21/16
No points involved and I hope all remarks are kept positive so no one gets discouraged from posting pictures. I look forward to seeing many factory and non factory configurations. Tom

Yea, some of us will have to suck it up and bite our keyboard fingers. Roys' pretty tough by now and I look forward to some of his photos. Tom

There once was a mod name of Rick
whose Savages gave him a kick.
When asked which to pick
he answered right quick,
"I can't decide on a pic!"

There was a young man in Khartoum
who went by the name of Calhoun.
He had many rifles
and none were mere trifles,
and his pics would fill up a room.

A bearded young man name of Loggah,
and of guns he was quite a collectah.
When asked for a pic
he said "Cheryl, come quick,
I need help with working the camera!"

A Michigan snowman named Saddlering,
would shoot and collect almost anything.
He went to a show
and tried to say "no",
but he ended up buying most everything.

All 99 guys are okay,
but of LBK I really must say,
when he gets in his head
to go sling some lead,
he smiles and shoulders his "K".

If I left someone out
please don't cry and pout,
I'm tired,
and the beer has run out! frown

I've posted more than my share of photos. Time for others to have a turn. Oh ok, here's everyone's favorite, but this is IT.

Great idea TomA.

One model or configuration per week. That way there is enough time for everyone to take pictures, and get in on it.

Like or want to see a certain model more? Just wait for that week. If you get that model later on, after that week has passed, go back to the thread of that model, and add it. That way we can continuously grow an online photo album of each model/configuration.

I motion to Rick that we start off with the 99T.

I'd just start with an open forum format. Let folks post pictures of whatever they have to get it going. After a while it could shift to a specific model but starting with a relatively exotic variety of the 99 is going to discourage guys who don't have large collections. Also, as said before, it doesn't have to be exclusive to the 99 as Savage made a large variety of firearms. I hope everything isn't getting too complicated before it starts and I vote we kick off the photo thread ASAP!

might need to put up a BUBBA desicration thread as well, crazy

Yes. I don't think this one was made by him. It's labeled 270-300 Savage. My step daughter with it. The photo was taken a few years ago to show to her guy friends so they'd think she was a blacktail slayer, but the deer is one of mine. grin She and her friends got a few laughs out of that photo.

No reason we can't have multiple threads going at the same time. For instance 99T's and RT's or Pre war R's and RS's and so on. I'd like to keep it some what organized for future reference when searching. A few pictures of each individual rifle with a brief description and partial S/N if you want. Anything unique about that particular rifle should be included. We can do gray rats, bubba 99's etc. Of course you can always post any pictures any time you want wherever you want it is a forum. Tom

One of my favorites, mainly because of the way it came to me. LGS fella had an old guy wanting to get rid of some guns. There were 2 on the list that were 99's. They were only listed as 99 in 300 and 99 in 358....well, we all know where they stayed.

In the gun pictured, a 99EG in 358 Win, not pristine, but no cracks, and blueing was decent. Still had original sights. Circa 1957.

Had a note in the butt that the old guy bought the gun in MN for $350. Dated in 1983. I made another note for when I purchased it and with price. My favorite "find" actually found me...... cool

Still waiting to draw blood. Hopefully this year. Set with a Leupold
M8 6x36 on it. Will be using the silvertip ammo.

Maybe this will be a 99EG in 358 year for both of us up north. Might have to bet a prime rib sandwich on who gets the biggest buck. grin

This one in 358 will probably be wearing a Leupold VX-I soon.

No matter.. I have confidence! grin

This 99EG in 358 got a break in this last year.

What is with all the 358 EGs? None to be seen, and now they are all over.

Sorry, Savage didn't have a Jr Shooters Club. Winchester Jr Rifle Club later became the NRA Jr Rifle Club.

...PS, I didn't have a .358 EG to post a photo of. frown
