holyshit les....you have learned something hangin here...nice find.
Won't go huntin' with it. Thanks to Calhoun, he pointed it out to me. Even the sun shines on a dog's azz once in awhile Jed. Les
I'm sure hoping I'm the sun in that statement, and Les is the other part..

Hope the seller follows through with putting a couple compasses inside the stock before he ships it.. he was partial to the idea.

And thanks to all that might have seen it and didn't post it... this is one that didn't go to lurkers.
Congratulations, nice looking rifle.
Grogel and RLG thanks for not trumping me. Les
Nice catch Les. 'bout time huh? Enjoy.

Well now only two left and I will be satisfied..........for awhile, nedd to get my MHG and a 99 R in 303. Les
Hey , Congrats on the Gun
I haven't posted much on here since joining, but I just had to congratulate you on winning that 1895. I was watching to see what it would bring. I haven't gotten to the point of chasing 95's---YET! The 99's seem to keep me broke enough. Congrats on the gun
Out of my reach Les, Im a acumulator, not a collector
Again, good grab.
Do you paint them pink befor or after you put the compass
in?
Only have one with a Compass, that is my T, but damn, I think the compass helps it out, that thing is a straight shooter. Still, I will probably get it fixed, unless I find a stith mount for it. Found a POS EG in 300 Savage here in the springs, lever is all bent to crap, but it has a Stith with a Weaver w/post reticle for 459.00 may pick it up flip the rifle and keep the scope. Can probably talk them down too 400. Les
Nice rifle, I do hope that you bring it to the "07" fest, compass or not!
Les.. pos 99EG with Stith and Weaver post.. hmm.. sounds like the one I just got. Spooky...

99R in 303? Whoa... you already got an EG in 303?

PS: Whoops, just looked at your site, and you do have an EG in 303.. dawg! Gorgeous too..
Way to go Les!
Wow Les! She's a Nice One.
I have a Couple If Ya Wanted One???
And No Compasses.! Enjoy Les and Congrats.
Steve
But Steve, would I have gotten off as lightly? Les

So how many .303's ya got?
Only have 5 right now. There are certain models I want, not all of them, but that wouldn't be bad. Haven't seen a 1899 F that I am willing to part with good money for yet. Les
11 In all
Maybe 1 or 2 More in the Rafters.
Steve
Very Purrrty. Pet her once for me.

BP...
Les,Stopped over to larrys the other day hes a real decent guy bought off him before , considered bidding on the 1895 would have made me number 4 in 1895,s but im going to have about 50'Gs in my vault building and dont feel that flush right now. I'm real glad you got it gotta have one of the first 303's when you collect em. Don
Just got back into town, nice find Les.

Interesting that it has a Marbles Sheard on the front of it to, didn't think they were factory but now I've seen two of them with it.

Let me know when you get it in the house and tell me if it's got a Mad Dog marking under the forearm.
Will do and thanks guys. Les
'Atta Boy, Les! How come you aren't gonna hunt it?
We don't have enough nice days to hunt it here. Les
The sights are probably not original to the rifle but they do look like they have been there since the early 1900's. Tang sight has the 1908 pattent date.

Les, the tang sight is not the standard Marbles' "SA" version. It was made for the 32-40 or 38-55 but works on the other calibers. Let me know what the code letters are on the bottom if you remove it. I don't think the that sight was in production very long. According to the book, the MSA stamping was only used till 1911. As for the front sight, early Sheard production sights have "Sheard" and a date while the later Marbles' made ones Sheard/Marble on them.

I saw an 1895 at Tulsa, $2800. The only good parts on it was the receiver and the "99" butt stock and plate. Guy said it was a carbine cause it had a short barrel. We measured it...23 1/4"

I would like the full serial number, if you don't mind and dates if you letter it. I think it is probably a 1897 production. I don't have any dates in your serial range.

Dick, very nice bull! Has it cooled off out your way yet. We have finally got some cold weather. I haven't sent for a letter on the H model yet. I need to send for two of them, my 1899A in 303 and the one from you. Went to a show in Missoula a few weeks ago, not much there. It was a very small show at the fairgrounds. Take care, Dave
Congrats Les!
Mighty fine looking Savage.

Hi Dave. Yes it's starting to cool off. I live on coast and it was 34 degrees this morning. Where we were hunting in Eastern Or. it was getting down to the low 20's when we left. Very nice weather, though. Here's a picture of the 2 bulls my son and I got Sat. Mine is on left. Picture is kinda dark, but you can get an idea of size. I now have to rest up for a Mule deer hunt in northern Montana at end of Nov.....Dick
