Only have 5 right now. There are certain models I want, not all of them, but that wouldn't be bad. Haven't seen a 1899 F that I am willing to part with good money for yet. Les

Just got back into town, nice find Les.

Interesting that it has a Marbles Sheard on the front of it to, didn't think they were factory but now I've seen two of them with it.

Let me know when you get it in the house and tell me if it's got a Mad Dog marking under the forearm.

The sights are probably not original to the rifle but they do look like they have been there since the early 1900's. Tang sight has the 1908 pattent date.

Les, the tang sight is not the standard Marbles' "SA" version. It was made for the 32-40 or 38-55 but works on the other calibers. Let me know what the code letters are on the bottom if you remove it. I don't think the that sight was in production very long. According to the book, the MSA stamping was only used till 1911. As for the front sight, early Sheard production sights have "Sheard" and a date while the later Marbles' made ones Sheard/Marble on them.

I saw an 1895 at Tulsa, $2800. The only good parts on it was the receiver and the "99" butt stock and plate. Guy said it was a carbine cause it had a short barrel. We measured it...23 1/4"

I would like the full serial number, if you don't mind and dates if you letter it. I think it is probably a 1897 production. I don't have any dates in your serial range.

Dick, very nice bull! Has it cooled off out your way yet. We have finally got some cold weather. I haven't sent for a letter on the H model yet. I need to send for two of them, my 1899A in 303 and the one from you. Went to a show in Missoula a few weeks ago, not much there. It was a very small show at the fairgrounds. Take care, Dave

Hi Dave. Yes it's starting to cool off. I live on coast and it was 34 degrees this morning. Where we were hunting in Eastern Or. it was getting down to the low 20's when we left. Very nice weather, though. Here's a picture of the 2 bulls my son and I got Sat. Mine is on left. Picture is kinda dark, but you can get an idea of size. I now have to rest up for a Mule deer hunt in northern Montana at end of Nov.....Dick
