Gentlemen,

I'm a part-time knife maker and a first time poster. I mostly frequent the AR forum, but it appears that the knife forum might be a little more active here. Below are a couple of knives that recently left my shop.

Thanks for looking,

Hello Lee,

welcome to 24hourcampfire.

Hope you enjoy it here.

I've found a home here for sure. Some fine makers and users post here. A great bunch of knife-loonies for sure!

Here are two from Lee that I own.

Gentlemen,

Thank you for the welcome and the comments.

Troutfly,

The blades are .125" CPM154, heat treated to 61 HRC. Blade length is 3 3/4" and overall length is 7 3/4". The top knife has brass fittings and a natural canvas Micarta handle. The bottom knife has nickel silver fittings and the handle is black canvas Micarta.

This style of knife, with a separate guard, is going to be my primary focus this year. I've been making knives for about four years and most of my knives have been in the style of the knives pictured below.

I like the design without a guard best. Different strokes I guess...

As long as we are voting, I put my vote with yours.

Thanks for all the comments.

The knife without the guard is a lot easier to make than the style with the separate guard. I don't own a milling machine, so I use a half round file to file the radius in the bottom of the guard. Brass goes relatively quick, nickel silver takes forever. I also file a notch in the blade, prior to heat treat, to retain the guard.

I don't believe I've ever gone to a knife maker's website and seen such a high percentage of knife styles that I really like. Just knife after knife...

Resurrecting this post to give a shout out to Lee. Not sure if he's still around but I used one of his knives for the first time this year. I bought it here on the 'fire and it was shaving sharp when delivered. I field dressed 6-7 deer this year and it's still shaving sharp. I did a touch up on a leather strop after the first deer which turned out to be unnecessary. Great knife and an instant favorite...
