No doubt this has been done before, but I'm a newbie.
How many different calibers have you used to take deer?
For me:
12 ga. Slug
.270
.30/06
.308
7mm Rem. Mag.
.30WCF
.257 Bob
.348
.44 Mag (revolver)
.44 Mag (rifle)
.50 ML
12 ga. #4 mag ( to put down a doe caught in a fence with her leg snapped off. Thinking about it still creeps me out.)

Wish List:
.22 Hornet
.357 Mag ( revolver and rifle)
.45 ML
1) 12gauge 1oz slug
2) 30 caliber, 30-30, 308, 30-06
3) 243

.223, .243, .25-06, .270, .308

.243AI, 280AI, 300WM, 338WM, 340WM, 44MAG,

6mm remington (2-3) 85 Nosler Partition
6.5 Rem Mag... (over 2 dozen) 120 and 140 Sierra..recently 130 Accubond is getting the nod

300 H&H ( 2-3) 150 Sierra
350 Rem Mag ( 6-7) 225 Nosler Partition
450 Marlin (1)

My favourite is the 6.5 Rem Mag... flat trajectory and low recoil gives excellent bullet placement in a compact package.
Here is an example.

Hope to add a Vixen and a BB in 9.3x62 and have a well rounded collection. I don't really go for redundant calibers guess I am not a loon yet smile
As the OP, and in the spirit of "thread creep tolerance", I hereby declare either designation acceptable.

Pointed sticks and any vehicles manufactured by the Chrysler corporation are strictly and expressly forbidden.
Now that vehicle make restrictions are out of the way; I've gotten them with a '71 IH pickup and '91 Chevy S10. More traditionally with 25/06; 7-30 Waters; 7x57 Mauser; 7-08 Rem.; .308; .30/06; .35 Whelen; .44 Mag.; and .45/70 that I can recall offhand. Also 1 with a bow. Could be a few that I don't recall caliber; have hunted with 7.7 Jap and 12 ga. slugs; .243 and .257 Rob and 7mm RM, but don't recall getting lucky with them. Also remember 1 with a 30/30.

Inuit I worked and travelled with in the Canadian Arctic used the .222 Remington as standard seal, caribou and frequent polar bear cartridge.
Before the .222 Remington they used the .22 Hornet for seal and Caribou and on polar bears with head shots
I witnessed regularly Peary caribou being taken with .22 long rifle solids.
Shots within 75 yards.
The .243 was looked upon as quite a versatile all rounder, from seal to Polar bear.
Reason for all this really was that polar bears often were shot as a bonus while seal hunting.
The Inuit did understand the concept of bullet placement.
If they strictly would single out polar bear then they would borrow or bring their own .270, .308, or 30-06. I never saw anything larger then that.
.22LR, .223, .220 Swift, .243, .25-06, .257 Wby, .270, 7RM, 7x57 (lots), .375H&H, .416 Rigby, .45 ACP, .41 Mag, damn forgot the old boring .30-06, 9.3x62. I think that is all. Just for clarification, the .375's and .416's were just used in doe season just to get used to shooting game with the big bores, often carried them for a while to pop the occasional coyote.
