this is a similar setup to the camp we use for elk and mule deer early archery... we are in the process of building a 25 ft. base camp sized tipi for this season.

Thanks for the comment! they are nice and easy to use. the stove jack makes it a bit more enjoyable. it's nice to brew up some coffee or hot chocolate when it's cold.
This year's elk camp won't be like this. Too spartan.
It won't be like this. Too heavy for horses.
I hope it won't be like this. Where are all the elk?
It will probably be more like this, except in Colorado.

www.wyominglostandfound.com Is that the RCA Victor dog?
transportation is covered....
there's a warn 2500 winch in there...
We ain't screwing around during 3rd season. Gonna break out the GP medium and GP Small. Muzzleloader season is gonna be quite a bit more spartan
I hesitate to post this, but here is my Colorado "elk camp":
New Mexico camp (assuming that I draw a tag) will be more spartan...
I like the way y'all operate. Mine this year for the A tag will be my buddy's uncle's spare room on a cot. If I go for a leftover B tag, it'll probably be a tent or reclining the seat in my truck.

Do the Elk come right to the back deck too while your sipping a latte?
Minewill look like this except my cook tent is now tan and not blue. I bought a new shower tent this year as well. I find out if I drew in 5-days!
Camper for 1-2, or better yet to haul the tent & coolers and have a bigger camp.

Well, I a latte is about the only thing that I have not yet sipped in "elk camp", but no, the elk spend their days 600-2,500 ft higher. They do walk through the area after dark and before daylight going to and from the river below and the irrigated pastures on the floodplain. One can set up the spotting scope on the porch and watch elk on the ridge to the east, and you can hunt them there if you are so inclined. I did take one bull up there, but I prefer to hunt the aspen thickets and mixed conifers another 1,500-2,500 ft on up the mountain.

If you got it...flaunt it.
Saddlesore, You're singing my song! Those late season hunt's don't get any easier. Do they? Hope our camp look's more like the 3rd photo this year.
Here is one of mine.

Here is another elk camp I've used.

I've been hunting out of this 1967 beater for a few years now - don't mind tracking mud and blood in it! This is from 2009. My spikes head is on the ground by the trailer tongue.
mudhen I love your colorado camp.
I'm with Saddlescore. I've been throughly spoiled by my 10 ft. Lance Camper. I'd much rather get up at 2-3:00 AM, have a hot breakfast, and drive an hour to a trailhead. After a day on the trail, hunting in where the horse back hunters hunt, I sure appreciate a hot shower, and warm, forced air heated camp.
When the weather is unhuntable, I can spend the day, comfortably, either playing on my computer or reading something. E
nothing wrong with hunting out of the camper. until it snows you in and you leave it up on the hill all winter. i have seen rigs parked until the following june in some spots.
This is usually my elk camp unless I just decide to hunt from home which is only 10 or so miles away.
It's really rough. We have to haul in drinking water.
Ralphie, I love that cabin and would enjoy seeing more pics of it. Please.
I agree with oldtrapper, that cabin looks like heaven to me. Great thread
Ralphie can I come if I bring the water?
Here's mine for four months...
Here's Lucy enjoying the fire.
And a picture of the barn at the cabin.
This place is on the ranch we live on. We also do guided hunts out of here.
will be using this 26 ft. monstrosity this year
wow. this is an awesome thread. some of you guys are pretty darned creative. I'm impressed (and will be hunting out of a camper parked at a private campground (elec, water, showers, sh$tter and all) in 2 months and 3 days....nothing fancy, and desperately needs some blood on it.
