this is a similar setup to the camp we use for elk and mule deer early archery... we are in the process of building a 25 ft. base camp sized tipi for this season. www.wyominglostandfound.com

Thanks for the comment! they are nice and easy to use. the stove jack makes it a bit more enjoyable. it's nice to brew up some coffee or hot chocolate when it's cold.

This year's elk camp won't be like this. Too spartan. It won't be like this. Too heavy for horses. I hope it won't be like this. Where are all the elk? It will probably be more like this, except in Colorado. KC

We ain't screwing around during 3rd season. Gonna break out the GP medium and GP Small. Muzzleloader season is gonna be quite a bit more spartan

I hesitate to post this, but here is my Colorado "elk camp": New Mexico camp (assuming that I draw a tag) will be more spartan...

I like the way y'all operate. Mine this year for the A tag will be my buddy's uncle's spare room on a cot. If I go for a leftover B tag, it'll probably be a tent or reclining the seat in my truck.

Good Shooting!

Camper for 1-2, or better yet to haul the tent & coolers and have a bigger camp.

Do the Elk come right to the back deck too while your sipping a latte? Well, I a latte is about the only thing that I have not yet sipped in "elk camp", but no, the elk spend their days 600-2,500 ft higher. They do walk through the area after dark and before daylight going to and from the river below and the irrigated pastures on the floodplain. One can set up the spotting scope on the porch and watch elk on the ridge to the east, and you can hunt them there if you are so inclined. I did take one bull up there, but I prefer to hunt the aspen thickets and mixed conifers another 1,500-2,500 ft on up the mountain.

JOC was right. The 270 Winchester on a Model 70 is a great combination as is the 30/06 and 375 H&H

Here is one of mine. Ol' Leanwolf enjoying a fire and an adult beverage. Here is another elk camp I've used. L.W.
