Picked it up today. Nice wood. I like it.

Now to decide on a scope.

Who has some good/pet loads for the 257 Roberts? I don't know for sure yet, but I doubt the COAL length will be a limiting factor in the Ruger magazine....

I did get lucky and my dies and brass came in about 30 minutes after arriving home and about the time I finished cleaning it.

It seems there is a lot of criticism of the pricing on the #1's, but compared to other premium guns right now, I think they are pretty much a bargain. At the least they are comparably priced.

I was wrong, the 110NAB has to seat pretty deep in the case.

How about a VX-III in 2.5-8X36 Leupold? Think that might do the trick?

Sounds like it would be a good choice. Are you offering one up? wink

AJD,

Nice rifle... Looks like you did good in the lumber dept. I like the 1-A substantially better than the 1-B. (Like the A-B even better...) That should make a fine hunting rifle. I'd have liked to have one, but one can't have them all. smile So I settled for the .303....

I know what you mean about the 303, perhaps there is still hope for me on that one, if they are truly making it a standard offering. It keeps calling out to me. smile

I see more ammo offered locally on the shelves for it than the 30-40, which surprises me.

When is yours due in?

Love it; nice wood. Coolest rifle of all-time!!!

I'm voting AH as my favorite #1 configuation. They'd sell like hotcakes if Ruger would put them in their line-up. I made my own AH in a 257 Roberts.

Thanks...

The AH is nice, and yours is very nicely done.

I've been thinking about one in 6.5 x 57. If I do, I'll have to figure out how to do the mounts as I don't think I want a rib.

Perhaps sometime in the future...

Super rifle. Great find.
The 1A is by far my favorite Ruger. This one is especially nice. Congratulations.

There are no Roberts loads in my book because all that I've loaded and shot is a Roberts AI.

I am currently working on my 6.5x55 #3 with a 1A barrel. We are trying different mount configurations. When finished I'll send some pics.

Again, great rifle! Best to you.

AJD, that is nice! Congrats.

GH-

I haven't seen you mention it. How do you like it?

I have yet to see any pics of any of your rifles, and you have so many interesting ones.

I think a 3x would be a good one. I was thinking along the lines of a 4x, but....we'll see what comes up. Right now I have something else mounted so as to do some load development.

AJD,

I don't seem to have the ability to post pics... but I emailed them to theShootist and he posted them for me. They are on this thread:

They are a ways down, but they're there...

40-42 grains IMR-4064, std primer, the 75 HP of your choice (my 1B shoots Hornady or Sierra equally). This load will ruin a prairie dog or woodchucks day.

RL22 and H4831SC are both favorites with a 115 Partition.

GH-

I saw that rifle, very nice. I don't know where my head is....

IMO the 303 is a great one in the #1, enjoy!!!

Chuckbuster,
Thanks for the load, I'm trying to work some up.

I did fire off a 117 and RL22 today to see how I like it. No felt recoil, but surprisingly to me, there was some muzzle flash.

I'm going to like this one.

Is this common with the Roberts?
