I have no ties to the sale or interest in the gun but thought I would pass this along. I've seen a thread or two on here where guys were either discussing NM's or looking to buy one and thought I would give you all a heads up.

Very nice....will be interesting to see what it goes for.
Thanks, Good looking gun. looks honest to me but there is nothing like a walk in SW GA sunshine.
Have any of you folks ever used this auction site on a gun?
very best on a good one. WinPoor
Seller has been around for 15+ years....over 9,400 positive feedback and just 3 neutrals. Believe all autions have an opening bid of $.01. He does have a lot of nice guns.

Yup, he always gets top dollar.
I have purchased several rifles from this seller. He is GTG.
I got the latest flyer from Rock Island Aresenal and they have a M70 target gun in the original wooden crate in 35 Rem. I'm guessing it's the same one as in Rule's book. My question is who would have ever ordered a target gun in 35Rem?
Two answers, Someone that loved a .35 rem and someone with plenty of money! I saw that RIA .35 in the sale paper and wondered the same question last week. That five special order SG .458 is milky tits as well!! the best Winpoor
I bought a gun from this seller awhile back and had a good experience. He sells some high end firearms, he sold a Pre War Super 38 Match Target for $26K+ not too long ago.
winpoor, the 458 is nice but the engraved 358 Super Grade Featherweight makes me want to sell my left man part!
Jack the dog has been around and continues to find some really nice stuff. I have bought several arms off gunauction which is the NRA sponsored auction site.

That rifle makes me drool, would love to shoot a xc with it.

This is very curious. My thoughts are a full National Match course is 200,300 and 600 yards and you are not going to shoot that with a 35 rem. Most local clubs didn't and don't have much more than 100 yard ranges and there are targets and matches known as reduced course matches with simulated targets at 100 yards.

This guy probably was shooting reduced matches but why a 35 Remington. Two thoughts are his hunting rifle was a 35 Remington and he was comfortable with it and had components and possibly cast bullets ready to load. Or, and if a 30 cal bullet just misses breaking a scoring ring a 35 cal would break that line and that might of been his thinking as well.

I would love to know because it certainly isn't or has been a normal choice for a match rifle cartridge.
Yeah, make mine a 6BR or PPC. Just sayin.. wink cool.. WTF is a 35 Rem? Who shoots cast bullets competitively???
........No one..
If he was going to order a crazy cartridge for a Natl Match he could of at least made it a 358 win.

the 6xc or dasher are nice ones too.
The things a looney will do, sometimes this, sometimes taking a Jaeger and a squirrel rifle and coming up with something that could kill a Red Coat officer at 300 yards. There's just no telling where it will go, or why.

bsa back in the day there were a LOT of guys whose shooting involved almost nothing but cast bullets, and the 35's were among the most popular for the purpose. Seems fewer do it today, but there are still some avid cast bullet shooters around.
By "avid", you mean old.. laugh..Just kidding Bob grin. I have some cast bullets (215gr.) I want to try in my 338 winny.. The guy that gave them to me, said his dad killed a bunch of deer and elk with his pre 64 Alaskan with those cast bullets. I'll bet they are great for plinking and a lot easier on the shoulder..
BSA, one of my best friends does not feel like he is saving money, beating the system unless he only buys powder and primers!
That gun is so rare I would shoot it just to get the itch over but I would not bang it to death. WAG less than 15 were made IF that many! very best WinPoor
Probably less than that buddy..

Yes that's the whole point to cast shooting.....cheap, high volume round count. These guys like fiddling with the molds, different mixes of lead and tin and stuff to experiment with hardness....they get a huge hoot out of it.Their garages and basements are loaded with buckets of wheel weights and other discarded lead to melt down. grin

I can see some old codger from the pre 64 era ordering a NM or target rifle just to play with cast bullets.Barrels last forever from what I am told.
Looks like this one is going HIGH, 8 days left and 43 bids, 3100 already! very best winpoor
