I thought I'd put this here prior to going into the classifieds. Here's a 1950 vintage M70 in excellent condition with an excellent bore. Rings and bases are included but not the scope. there is some thinning of the blue on the barrel by the muzzle but not enough to show in the pictures. This is a good shooting rifle but I have three of them and need to make some room. I have pictures and will gladly e mail them as they aren't on photobucket and to be honest I'm not computer literate enough to move them.
This is a great M70 in 257R for $2500.00

I have owned several .257 Roberts M/70's over the last 40 yrs., finding one that nice is exceedingly tough. Most were well used by their owners and showed it, that rifle must have been in a time capsule somewhere to have survived in such nice condition.

Thanks for the kind words. it's a nice gun and accurate but I have 3 Pre64's and a custom built Roberts so it's just time to thin out the safe.

LOL, it is a very nice rifle, I plainly have too many projects in the works, BUT, we all know you can't have too many rifles. smile

I'm keeping an ear to the ground on this end for ya.

Thank I appreciate it. there are to many 7MM and 300 Savages as well as an extra 300 H&H.....no pressure...I'm just saying.

Dang, a pre-64 7MM is my kryptonite, I'll have to get one some day.

And with it, I'd hunt it with an old Lyman receiver peep and 175 NPT's. wink

I'm bringing a 7MM carbine back from the depths of despair. I need to get the stock refinished then it will be done. The bluing was bad on the barrel like it was carried over the shoulder African style and some idiot jeweled the bolt and the extractor then just to be stupid they actually cut the bolt knob in half and checkered it!!!. The finish is almost gone on the stock but the checkering remains in decent shape so hopefully that won't need attention. it won't be a "collector" gun but will make for a fine deer rifle. I have a mint original carbine and a std rifle but my custom 275 Rigby got a lot more field time in last year.

Ban saws and drill presses need to be Federally Regulated in a Bubba gun shop. cry mad

I've seen some strange Gunsmithing before but never a bolt knob cut in half.
Posted By: gunner500 Re: Pre64 257R for sale - 02/14/17
Before I really knew what they were [bout 1988] I remember my 'Smith telling a potential customer, Thanks for coming in, and I want your business, but I wont do that to that rifle.

Guy had a pre-64 M-70 of some sort he wanted the stock cut and a decelerator pad added. sick

I saw an AHE Parker 20ga (a $25K gun) where the owner cut the skeleton but off and added a recoil pad frown

One could look long and hard, and be tough to find a nicer 257 Roberts.... that's a fine model 70.
Good luck with the sale
