I'm bringing a 7MM carbine back from the depths of despair. I need to get the stock refinished then it will be done. The bluing was bad on the barrel like it was carried over the shoulder African style and some idiot jeweled the bolt and the extractor then just to be stupid they actually cut the bolt knob in half and checkered it!!!. The finish is almost gone on the stock but the checkering remains in decent shape so hopefully that won't need attention. it won't be a "collector" gun but will make for a fine deer rifle. I have a mint original carbine and a std rifle but my custom 275 Rigby got a lot more field time in last year.

Ban saws and drill presses need to be Federally Regulated in a Bubba gun shop.

I've seen some strange Gunsmithing before but never a bolt knob cut in half.

Before I really knew what they were [bout 1988] I remember my 'Smith telling a potential customer, Thanks for coming in, and I want your business, but I wont do that to that rifle. Guy had a pre-64 M-70 of some sort he wanted the stock cut and a decelerator pad added.

I saw an AHE Parker 20ga (a $25K gun) where the owner cut the skeleton but off and added a recoil pad

Thanks Big B, I thought you'd see all the smoke GSP and me was kicking up , BSA must be under a black light tarp x-raying some steel not to see us, rotfl! More like getting my azz rained on trying to finish up a barge. Damn, I hate welding and fitting in the rain.... . A general labor asked me where I was going to be today and I said all up and down this mother fu cker. When she starts groaning, you better get out of the way.....
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

One could look long and hard, and be tough to find a nicer 257 Roberts.... that's a fine model 70. Good luck with the sale
