WANT TO SELL: If you're looking for a Prewar M/70 .257 Roberts shooter I have one of the nicest you're likely to find. I looked for many years for this rifle and haven't found a nicer one since finding this one about 20 yrs. ago. That said this is a '39 vintage rifle in 95% condition, original wood and metal finish. I am calling it a shooter rather than a collector because it is drilled & tapped on the rear bridge for a Redfield one piece mount and it has a solid red
Winchester recoil pad (repro)and Tilden safety. Here's the best part, the bottom metal is semi-relief engraved in a scroll pattern by the late Firearms Engraver Guild Master Geo. Sherwood and signed by him. The trigger guard were charcoal blued after engraving by M/70 restoration expert Steve Moeller. The engraving and charcoal bluing cost $1500.00 in 1999. Prior to my acquiring this it does not appear to have been shot very much and hunted little if at all. My shooting during the time I have owned it amounts to approximately 300-400 rounds range time/load development, I've never hunted with this rifle. I am located in the Indianapolis, IN area and would like to do a FTF transaction if possible though I will ship. Asking $1995.00 FIRM, shipping fully insured in a hard case to FFL who will accept shipment from an individual at additional cost. Please e-mail me at: bobtwining
sbcglobal.net for pics. Thanks. NOTE: Will take pre'64 M/70 Featherweight .30-06 as partial trade.
