I had a charge left in my NEF Huntsman barrel, which is mounted on a 45/70 frame, so I took it out for a winter hunt.
Last muzzleloader deer this year! Nice 8 point!
load = 245gr powerbelt, 80gr 777.
Distance = 80 yards, complete pass through (large deer)!

Congrats to you. I hear the deer are moving the past week or so here in NC. Glad you found one.

Both my traditional deer (Hawken with roundball), and this deer died quickly. Since using Powerbelt 245 over 80 gr of 777, maybe 6 or 7 years ago, all deer have gone down immediately. I am not much of a shooter / range guy, just a hunter, but I may do a little experimenting with 70 gr with Powerbelt...
Attached is this year's roundball deer.. He went 30 - 40 yards!
