It was just announced on the Rugerforum that Lipsey's will distribute a 44 Spec on the 357 Flattop frame in 4 3/4 and 5 1/2". Supposedly available in mid-January.

This is indeed huge news for a lot of us. I just went on the Lipsey's site and they already list both models. I bet Brian Pearce already has his order in for at least two of each.

SOS,
Thanks for the notice. That's the best news I've heard in quite some time.
I think I know how I'll be spending some of my tax return $ next year.

Oh yeah!!!!! Reading this news just made my day look much brighter! I've wished Ruger would do this since they first re-release their flattop .357. Hot damn!

How does a 44 Spec compare to a .44Mag?
Thank you.

Thank you. The 44 Spec is to the 44 Mag like the 38 Special is to the 357 Mag, except bigger than the latter 2 rounds

Now the bad news I found out since the original post.
Lipsey's has committed to 1000 of each barrel length. Those 2000 are apparently sold out to dealer's. Now, Lipsey could order more, if demand and Ruger production capacity are there, but initially at least it will be a sellers market. It wouldn't surprise me to see prices over MSRP.

Guys,
These are not sold out! We haven't even taken delivery of the first guns. The first batch won't come in until January and they are scheduled out by quarter. There will be plenty to go around. If you want one I suggest telling your dealer now so that they can be called when they come in.

My dealer called Lipsey's while I was standing there and put my name on one. He says he doesn't expect them until March.
