No sense in going out yet around here. You would still need a damn shovel to dig them out of the snow .................

Still waiting for the snow to melt...

Cariboo, it's snowing up at the Bond Lake range right now, great, add another week or two on to the wait.

Up here in PG there's not much of any fresh greenery yet, I don't think even the ditch pigs are out yet.

Anybody who seriously concerns themselves with the adequacy of a Big 7mm for anything we hunt here short of brown bear, is a dufus. They are mostly making shidt up. Crunch! Nite-nite!

We just got back from town doing our Sunday shopping. It was alternating between sleet and rain all the way home. I was planning on hitting the range for a couple hours this afternoon but the weather was too crappy for enjoyable shooting. wink

BTW, There may be few bears out yet but we saw at least 1000 mulies along the highway between here and the puddle.

One of the guys saw a teddy walking around down on the creek by the old JB mill last week, pretty small though.

Ended up out Meldrum Creek way today, got a spot out there to shoot distance. Anyway on the way out I saw a herd of about 30 or 40 and lots of small groups, the mulies look to have wintered well.

Yes, that is a nice spot. One of the few pieces of crown land in the area where safely shooting to 1000m+ is possible.

The only possible fly in the ointment is that a friend of mine who is a lifer in the Canadian Forces -Army- says that the CF is planning on reactivating the training area there in the very near future. He was actually up there last fall for a week in preparation for the activation.

What's all this talk about snow....? smirk

Caught up with this fella munching on one of my neighbour's alpacas early in the morning of April 7

As the ear tag indicates, "he was known to the authorities". Turned out he was one of two cubs trapped in Pitt Meadows in 2007. Raised at Critter Care in Langley and relocated to the top of Stave Lake in 2008. Alas, he strayed...

Our MNR in their 'wisdom' cancelled our spring bear hunt.............so my son and I will have to wait 'til fall. More bears around now though.............they have been quite a problem for campers and hikers...........oh well, if someone gets attacked maybe we will have to reinstate the spring bear hunt. It's just a matter of time.
