Not just for the writers- I've read a little of JB's views on it, and would like to hear more, but what does everyone say, yes or no why or why not?

It does indeed work as advertised. Even shooting moly-coated bullets in my 30-378 poses no problems in clean up. Normally, I would have to scrub a bore forever to get a clean patch (no moly). Now, it takes maybe 10 passes with a nylon brush and Butch's Bore Shine, let it sit for 10 minutes, another patch soaked with Butch's, then dry-patch it out. I've never seen the likes of it. It works just as well on copper fouling. It's really kind of amazing.
Doug (Burche) also said he had a couple of machine gun barrels that had 100K+ rounds through them that he had treated with UBC, and there wasn't that much throat wear. That was a year ago when I last spoke with him regarding the application of UBC. I'll never be able to test that claim, but I see no reason to not believe him.

I don't remember it specifically, but I remember a lot of manufacturer's making claims along that line. The only product I've been able to see that makes a difference when applied is moly.

I have used it in 5-6 rifles and the clean up is very simple now. Good product. Make sure you follow the directions exactly.

Is there a link to the thread that outlines the info on this product? I'm interested, and by the way, what have you guys found to be the best at getting moly out of barrels and will this product work as well on older barrels? Thanks

"Friction Block" is (was??) a good product. It changed owners a couple times and last I knew was/is being sold mostly as an automotive engine additive. I have used Friction Block and still do -- I purchased a lifetime supply. It does not come close to the 'claims' made for UBC (which I have never tried out). It did beat everything else I tried out.
I now clean barrels a lot less than I used to, but I also shoot a lot less than I used to. All barrels were well seasoned with Friction Block.
I probably will give UBC a go eventually, cause it sounds like a super product.

Purchased a used rifle one time.. Owner stated it shot little tiny groups, even gave me four boxes of the Molly coated, magic load with it.. So, went to the range, could not get groups worth measuring, and had pressure signs..
I spent two hours cleaning that barrel at the range, kept getting molly mess on patches. Never got it cleaned. I figured that they shot so many times with out cleaning, that there had to be enough layers of molly to do a life time of bullet coating..

Moly is real, but folks have to know how to use it and what it does do. And what it doesn't. Even Kevin Thomas test was not showing the positive side of it, but he was searching for something it didnt do.....
UBC is cats azz as they say.... I won't ever have another gun without it.
As to friction block, I still have some of their grease, and it works just fine.
Getting moly out is fairly simple, shoot a handful of non coated bullets down the tube and finish by cleaning with that orange hand cleaning stuff.... and clean the tube. Moly will be gone except for deep pores, then UBC the tube and go again.

Well, I guess I'm gonna have to get some of the UBC - been reading too much good stuff about it!
Hey Rost, do you use it in your AR's with chrome lined barrels?

at getting moly out of barrels I use JB Paste on a patched brush that is 1 caliber under bore. About 2 to 3 minutes and one has a dime bright bore. Moly is probably about a micron thick in most instances, so it takes very little to scrub it out.
