Most of the H&Rs seem to suffer from the same comb-height challenge as the Henry SS, though aftermarket fixes and maybe some factory options may be more widely available. Leupold scopes (small eye piece), Burris med height SS Zee rings, and standard H&R bases work together like peanut butter, jelly, and pickles. This is assuming the use of a monte carlo rifle stock and not a low comb shotgun stock.

With Warne MT lows and an old K4, I’m able to forgo the use of a hammer spur on my Henry .357. Needs a slip-on cheek pad though, and I only use the scope for testing, going with a Romeo 5 to save weight.
What fresh Hell is this?

You're right about the stock(s). They're pretty nice.
I ran down a brand new Henry for just a touch over $500.00, I was beginning to think ANY .30-30 single shot was in the Unicorn league. I had sold a .30-30 Contender not so long ago, so still had brass for that. Just thinking about cast bullets in this, leave the jacketed for the M94.
I'm going to see if I can get her to barking this weekend.

You guys are right, so went back and got it today. Looking forward to loading some spire points for it, and do some accuracy tests. Not sure what to scope it with, I have alot of glass laying around. Kinda thinking about mounting a nice old El Paso Weaver 3X I have had for awhile . ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/ij3U0Q2l.jpg) That’ll be a good combo. I ended up putting an old El Paso Weaver 2.5 on mine. Works great! That’s exactly how I set one up for my son’s 30/30.
