Today was the day in Oregon and started out cloudy, windy and with a light drizzle. I had been scouting this property for a week and was pretty sure I knew where and when they would show up. It didn’t go as planned but worked out in the end.
Had a doe come into the field and walk up to about 10’ before winding me. That made my day right there so anything else was a bonus.
Had 2 toms gobbling at each other and didn’t seem to want to come to my call. One was pretty close and after a half hour of listening I was thinking about moving down the hill to the lower field and see if I could get closer. Just as I was gathering my stuff two toms walked out where I’d hope they would. After a couple of long minutes they separated so I could get a shot. Not a huge Tom but I was happy with him and had a great morning.
8” beard, 3/4” spurs, fat as heck and beautiful to look at. 😎
