Giving my 3500 Ram to our son in law and looking at a GMC Sierra 2500 HD SLE 6.6 gas with the 10 speed Allison. Any advice, likes, dislikes, etc.? I only pull my 16' dump and 24' equipment trailers as needed anymore and figure that this truck would be sufficient.

The mirrors suck.... way too high and a hell of a blind spot.

I don’t notice a blind spot in my mirrors (2021). The 6.6 gas has been pretty good (for the first 40,000 miles anyway). I have the 6 speed and don’t lack for gearing, but I assume the ‘Allison’ branded 10 speed would be even better. Power is there, and I came out of an LML diesel. Mileage isn’t great but it’s better than the old 6.0 with noticeably more power, and not much worse than the diesels. Diesel fuel premium is more than the mileage hit, and the diesels are full of issues that just aren’t there with the gassers, especially if you aren’t towing every single day.

I’m a Dodge and Ford man, but came out of restaurant yesterday and GMC parked in front, they are very good looking, it was a 6.6, several of my buddies have them, they are comfortable.

I bought a 2022 3500 diesel and added the bumper to bumper 100,000 mile warranty, $67,000.00.


I’m not sorry. The mirrors work, the truck pulls like a diesel, not an almost as good gasser. It is comfortable and gets better mileage than a gasser.

What’s not to like?
