The answer to your question is the 6.5 Creedmoor. That said, it's not my favorite I owned, shot, worked on a number of Tikkas I like the 308 myself.

Not sure why you’d buy a tikka in a Kreed when the Swede is available. Hint

Because of an insane amount of support from the ammo makers

Because of an insane amount of support from the ammo makers Yeah, don't bet the farm on factory Swede ammo outshooting factory Creed ammo. If you can find some, that is. Creed ammo is everywhere. DF

For all the bad press we heap on the Creedmoor it has a lot going for it; second only to 308 for readilly availble hunting ammo, low recoil, high BC bullets are the norm. It Fits a short action magazine, kills above its expectations and is very easy to find good loads, both handloads and factory.

The right stuff (with the right twist). Hard to fault. But that doesn't stop folks. Jealousy? Someone making a gun better than mine? A cheap off the shelf rifle with off the shelf ammo that outshoots my high dollar custom whatever? Yeah, Lots of ammo for haters.... DF

Any cartridge can be accurate in any rifle including Tikka's IF you tailor the bullets and powder to the rifle. That's what handloading gives vs shooting factory rounds.

Not sure why you’d buy a tikka in a Kreed when the Swede is available. Hint The CM will be more accurate and ammo is much cheaper and available. Big Swede fan but he said "accurate"

Big Swede fan but he said "accurate" Swede shooter, and I'm one, needs to be a reloader. Creed, not so much. I have one of those, too. You gotta really be on your game to reload better ammo than factory. Maybe a challenge to load some just as good. DF

I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

I shoot both cartridges and while I don’t have anything negative to say about the Kreed, in the tikka, the Swede is just a better package. It’s the perfect length for the tikka action. I wish Tikka would chamber a 7x57 as well. Another perfect fit. Admittedly , it’s making less and less sense to hand load these days, with the price of components.

I have a Superlite in .300 Win Mag that is a dandy shooter, if I can convince myself that my face won’t actually fall off if I shoot it 5 times in a row. 3 shot groups are doable, but painful, 5 shot groups are…. fatiguing to say the least. The cool part is, every time I shoot it my ancestors get to shoot with me because they feel it too. My daughter has a LH Superlite in .308 Win and it is a true sub MOA rifle. We’ve only shot 110 and 125 gr bullets in it so far but these are the first two groups she shot with it.. A 125 gr Accubond at 3000 FPS has proved to be an excellent field load for her. My wife (we) has a blued lite in .270 Win and it will shoot a house on fire as well.. Moral of the story, Tikkas are awesome! Todd Congrats to your daughter on her fine looking deer and elk. That always makes a dad proud. Nice job!

6.5 CM is the easy button for sure, tons of ammo everywhere. But If you have 308 and 7-08 , I'd probably go with 243 to stay in the 308 family. I wouldn't shy away 6.5 PRC or 270. Do you reload?
All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

There is plenty of cheap 6.5x55 available and the ammo seek search returned over 500 options. From ¢.70 to $2.75 a round Cheap 131gr SP6.5x55 $14.30 a boxI have an old Swede built on a Mauser that belonged to my uncle, it's decently accurate inside 300yds, just not sure what it would do with premium ammo, he had about 10 cans of surplus that is probably older than me. I was curious about availability, only reason I looked. Now in a Tikka, or in general, how accurate is the Swede overall? I agree that the Creedmoor is the easy button, but the 270 has peaked my interest. Found this thread after posting the above How accurate is your Tikka 6.5x55
