Taping the rear of the lug is one step I omitted. I've read several places that the rear of the lug should not be taped. Thanks!

Read up on action jacks - you can also make your own. In my work it's indispensable and it's much better than beating your barreled action out of the stock.

Trying to make up my mind if I want to try the whole action or, just lug and tang being my first bedding. It's not a bad idea to do a glass bedding operation in steps. Then check each step after curing to determine if anything has changed. It's also easier to recover a fumble on a single part or section, than it is on a complete job.

The tape for the recoil lug goes an all sides except the one nearest the action…..

Why on Earth would you want to have clearance there??????? That's a very good question, that's why did not put tape there. If the weather ever clears up I'm going to go to the rang and see how it shoots.
