Taping the rear of the lug is one step I omitted. I've read several places that the rear of the lug should not be taped. Thanks!

Read up on action jacks - you can also make your own. In my work it's indispensable and it's much better than beating your barreled action out of the stock.

It's not a bad idea to do a glass bedding operation in steps. Then check each step after curing to determine if anything has changed. It's also easier to recover a fumble on a single part or section, than it is on a complete job. wink

The back of the lug is the recoil surface against the stock. Why on Earth would you want to have clearance there???????

The tape for the recoil lug goes an all sides except the one nearest the action…..

That's a very good question, that's why did not put tape there. If the weather ever clears up I'm going to go to the rang and see how it shoots.
