Home Forums Hunting & Shooting Winchester Collectors Sights on Pre War Model 70

My '41 Model 70 didn't have any sights on it when I bought it and I've decided to scrounge up the correct ones. The best my Google-foo can come up with is a 22G for the rear and 103C for the front. I don't have a, "Rule" book so hopefully one of you guys that do will chime in with what is correct.

The Winchester 22-G and either Lyman 31W or Winchester 103C would be correct according to the "Rule" book.

The 22G is correct and per Rule the Winchester 103C phased out the Lyman 31W starting in 1941....

I've been watching 22G rear sights for a while now and I guess that they were used on a number of different rifles and can come with a few different sight elevators. How many steps on the elevator would be correct for the PW Model 70?

Four steps on my prewar.

Step elevator No. 3-C was the most commonly used, but 1-A, 1-B, 1-C and 2-C were also used according to the "Rule" book.
