Hey guys, I haven't been very active here in the past year so I'm a little out of the loop. My first question is about tritium front sight posts (A2). I'm considering buying a Trijicon front post for my Colt 6920 and I'd like to hear from people that have used them. The standard width is about.07" and the Trijicon post is .14" wide. I'm a little worried the almost double width will drastically lower the range I'll be accurate at although I normally shoot the colt at 50 yards or less I like to shoot up to 100 sometimes. For a rear sight I just have the basic Magpul flip up and this is more of a "SHTF" rifle than anything, I have others I use for long range and hunting so it's not a deal breaker if the width plays a major role in range.
My second question is pricing. I built and lower about 18 months ago and it's just sat in the safe. I had a 6.8 upper on it for a short time but sold the upper and went another route. It's an Aero Precision lower, PSA lower parts kit, BCM "H" buffer & milspec tube, Magpul MAID grip and enhanced triggerguard and a Rogers Super Stock. I haven't been following prices lately so I'm asking for advice on a good starting price for the lower, I have around $350 into it and know I won't get nearly that much considering it's kind of a random built lower. Is $220 a decent starting price or too low/high? My buddy may be buying it.
Thanks ahead guys! Cory

Front sight width is in your head.
I use a post that covers 36 inches width at 600 yards. I can call my shot locations to within a couple of inches from shot to shot, IE how I was holding when it went off so I know where the bullet should have hit.
The military teams use sights 2-3 times wider than mine, and outshoot me.
They use a sight as wide as the target frame at 1000 yards, covers 6 feet or more in apparent width, and they often keep many of their shots in a 20 inch circle at that range.
All you have to understand is the bullet will hit center windage wise and elevation wise however you have it sighted.. IE top of the post, 6 inches above etc....
Width of the post will not hamper your shooting as long as you don't let it. Plus its a lot easier to focus on wider front sights with your eyes.
We can keep Larry Root and all his idiotic blabber and user names on here, but we can't get Ralph back..... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over....

I have an XS 24/7 striped post that I'd sell if that tells you anything...

You might try a different tritium front if you want tritium. Meprolights are pretty close in size to an original A1 front http://www.amazon.com/Meprolight-AR-15-M-16A1-Tru-Dot-Sight/dp/B0002INGN8Not sure on the width, but Ameriglo has finer adjustment: http://www.amazon.com/Ameriglo-Most-Tritium-Front-Only/dp/B000OI81AYIf you want something with a smaller aiming point that glows in the dark you might be better off buying a red dot.
