When at FLW - 90*+ and 80%+ humidity seemed brutal.
I believe I actually preferred the 127*, in the shade, we endured at Fort Irwin.

This year is off to a record-breaking start for global temperatures.
It has been the hottest year to date, with January, February and March each passing marks set in 2015, according to new data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
March was also the 11th consecutive month to set a record high for temperatures, which agencies started tracking in the 1800s.
With the release on Tuesday of its global climate report, NOAA is the third independent agency — along with NASA and the Japan Meteorological Association — to reach similar findings, each using slightly different methods.


Been above average nearly every day this summer in Colorado.

The humidity is what makes the heat feel so, well hot. 90 in Tn feels different than 90 in Wisconsin for sure.

Hit 104f here yesterday, before some thunderstorms rolled through. Then a big portion of central Arkansas was without electricity for about 2 hrs (here), but can's speak for when they got it all back on. miles

There's an upcoming chance of rain starting tomorrow.

Nothing better than a good summer rain when it's needed.

This year, until a month ago, was well below average.

Even in our heat, this is normal or below.

2011, it was not uncommon to see 115 -120 plus on the thermometer in the shade... about 10 feet off the ground where the sensor is...

Globul warming is bull. Can't believe folks believe it.

Its normal for temps to vary. And usually when one region is hotter than average another is average or cooler than....

Yesterday afternoon, we too got a thunderstorm. Lots of thunder and lightning, wind was pretty bad a time or two, but it cooled off and it rained 2.4", according to my gauge.

Electricity was off about 8 hrs or so.

Wish it would do that every week.

A balmy 101 here yesterday...

Living in Tucson in the 1970s (1400 ft. higher and about 10 summer degrees cooler than Phx. with slightly more humidity as well) we relied on a big evap cooler to keep the house cool/comfortable. This worked very well for most of the summer, but I did learn to monitor the dew point and knew the number at which the evap cooler would begin to be come less efficient (have since forgotten the #). When the higher dew points in mid-late August entered, we knew it was time to get the kids up onto Mt. Lemmon, Mt. Graham or to the Rim, or get them into the neighborhood pool or somewhere with AC during the day. By Sept.1 the evap cooler usually was effective again.

And, for those who say simply "it's the humidity" out west, we did find 90+ degrees in southwest AZ to be much more comfortable than the place we left on the east coast. But, when the summer temps got above 110 and up to 120 for 12 hours each day down there, humididty had little or nothing to do with the discomfort.

I've been outside the last three days and it rained last night. I could tell today was a little worse than the last two because of the humidity. The heat index is apparently 122 right now.

A couple days ago, my neighbor, Central WY, recorded 103 temp.
The Farmer's Almanac predicts snow for the area mid October, woohoo! So far, its been right this year.

It's a good time to be retired, even if it's just temporary. It's not too bad from about 2am 'til 9am, or so.

Lately I'm keeping cigars in the humidor so they stay dry.
