Yesterday I purchased a rare rifle and can't find any info. We know it's a Finnbeat L61R, but all the pictures I can find show nothing like what I have. It's a heavy barrel with s/n 572**. I don't see any markings on it to indicate Garcia model. It's. 7mm mag rem with a custom stock (or as it appears) and a very long barrel with wood markings unlike anything I've seen in online photos. It has a hole for the thumb in the stock. I tried to get pictures to upload but am unable at this time.
Can anyone tell me anything about this gun? Barrel length is at least 27".

What makes it rare? 7rem mag was a pretty common caliber for them. I would guess it's an early to mid 70s rifle.

Google Sako and go to one of the collector sites.

I think you'll find that you rifle has been "customized" a good bit, but without pictures it's hard to say. Sako sells (sold) rifles all over the world and some configurations were meant for specific markets, but eventually can end up almost anywhere. Your rifle as described doesn't sound like any I've ever seen from the factory, but who knows? If it's "custom", it's likely worth less than one that's factory original, "rare" or not.

They sold barreled and plain actions. It is not unusual to find custom guns. Flaig's sold a lot of stocked actions.

If I could get a picture to load it would make sense. Or maybe it's not rare. The markings in the wood are different. The stock is completely straight with a thumb hole. I don't know much about the L61R obviously. I've looked all over the web and can't find anything like it. Stock is completely straight. It has a thumb hole in the stock. Can't get a pic on here. Never mind. Thx.

Sounds like a custom stocked 7RM Sako. The L61r is a nice action. I have one in a McMillan Sako classic that is pretty sweet, but heavy.

I'd bet someone with a PB account can post pics for ya.

If its been altered its not worth more than 700.00 in my opinion. My not be original barrel. Should be good to shoot.

There is a SAKO L61 7RMg Standard Grade on Gunbroker right now that is bone stock original, down to the vented recoil pad that is beginning to collapse at the heel, from being stored standing up in a corner most likely. ....nice clean rifle at a really good price too....but then the auction is not over yet either.

I just bought a Sako Finnbear 7 mag from a campfire member for 650.00 that is like new. I thought that to be a good deal. Got me back up to three 7 mags. I was getting anxious with only two. Four would be better.
