Where is the proper place to D&T a Redfield 102 sight on the 99? I have a sight that is NOS and have had for quite a while. It was D&T for scope bases long before I got it. Stock just doesn't allow a proper cheek weld for glass.

It mounts on the tang, using the two holes factory drilled and tapped for that purpose.

Get some sleep Gary!
He's talking about the side mount version.
There is no proper place to further desecrate a fine old firearm.

I understand old lightfoot but my old eyes can't do barrel sights. Telescopic sights aren't optimum with the stock. This is the only and best solution for a better shooter.

Yeah, Mike, that occurred to me later but you had already posted!
Mustanggt- why not get a tang sight, or a tang-mounted receiver sight? That way you get the benefits of the aperture (and said aperture will be closer to your eyeball which is a solid benefit), without the angst of d/t'ing extra holes in the gun. God and Arthur Savage put those holes in the tang for a reason!

Get one of those aluminum Williams FP sights for the tang holes. You won't have to mortgage the homestead to buy one and you won't have to drill the poor ol' 99 anymore.
