Here is my accidental deer for 2021. Taken Sept 19. Had a crazy September and was studying for a new software operating system.

Wind was perfect so I decided to sit in a ground blind I had set up on our property. It was hot, hence the shorts in the blind. Went out not expecting to actually fill a tag. More of an extended study break. Was not in the blind 10 minutes when this buck came in.Took about 5 minutes for him to present a shot.

Bow is a Kota Jackrabbit 47@28. I draw 29 1/2. Arrows are VAP 400 with 200gr VPA three blade up front. Total arrow weight is 520gr.

At the shot, buck went about 40 yards, stopped, staggered and went down for good.

Hardly an accident.

A lot of thought had to go into your choice of equipment and blind placement, and many hours of practice so you could make the shot when it was offered.

Excellent work!
Congrats! Nice old school method with a modern flair!

Nice Buck!

Enjoy the Meat!
Nice buck, beautiful country! Love the Black hills. I was just reading that western ND has a bad problem with EHD, this year. Has it hit western SD too?

Traditional,,,,,
Well done

Yes we are having EHD issues this year. It typically does not hit the Black Hills as much as out on the prairie.

We have only found two small bucks on our prairie property that I suspect were EHD.
Congratulations beautiful buck and bow.

Very Nice, I have a KOTA Kill-Em, it is my favorite recurve. I have not hunted with it in a few years, I bought it about 22 years ago. It's Osage Orange with a Cocobolo handle. Might have to practice up with it for next fall.

Super nice deer! Congrats!

Great buck!

We used to live in Piedmont and enjoyed the parade of deer every morning and evening.

More than a few ended up in our freeezer.

Unique and pleasant area to live and raise a family.

Yes, you can certainly get the deer parade on the transition from prairie to Hills.
Family is pretty much raised, but have a grandson in town, so the next generation is already started.
We almost relocated to the western slope of Colorado in the early 2000's, but it did not come to fruition.

The Hills bucks typically do not get as big as the midwest monsters due to nutrition, but this was a mature buck with wore down teeth. Thrilled to have taken him cleanly.
Nice Buck congratulations
