I don't know what it is shipped. I think he wants $20 a pound and I believe he has 3 pounds of it and 8 of the H870

He is in another town, but the next time I talk to him I can ask. I encouraged him to join the Fire and try to sell it on here so maybe he'll do that.

That's pretty good. I'll be gone hunting for a week, but if he hasn't joined by then I'll call him and ask him about shipping. I don't know how a person does that with powder. Any knowledge on that front?
264, yes both. They worked great in the late 60's, should now if you find.
had a book with load data in it from either Elmer Keith or P.O. Ackley, that had load data for all sorts of loads using those two powders, in All sorts of cartridges.... war surplus stuff in paper bags, real cheap...surplus 50 cal powder....

a couple of moves, Lord knows where that book is nowadays...
I used some H870 in my 264 with 140s. Might still have 1 lb left.
Used H870 in a 264 WM with 140's and 160's. almost 50 years ago. Terry
According to my Speer #7 manual from 1966, both H870 and 5010 show the exact same range of loadings from 72 - 76 grains for a 264WM. sounds a bit warm to me and can't recall what I used back then.
I purchased a lb. of H870 when it was announced it was being discontinued 10-15 yr. ago. I intend to try it in the .257 Weatherby & .264 Win. sometime... -Mark

Yup! I haven't used it in years, but H870 was great with 175's from my 7mm Rem Mag. Accurate & fast. Took a nice 6x6 bull elk with that load, 20 years ago. And yes, dirty powder.

Guy
Have used both especially in the early '70s for my Win Mag...Now 10 lbs of H570 is my only retro powder still on the shelf..
