I've been looking around using the search but have been unable to find anything.
Does anyone have any pet loads, tips, advice, etc... on reloading for a 35 Remington?
Lever or pump, it doesn't matter. I'll take tips and advice for both.
Chad
I was dinking around with the .35 Remington in a Marlin 336 a couple of years ago. I found that 40-42 grains of IMR 4064, IMR 4320 or IMR 4895 worked well with a 180 grain Flat Point, while the 220 grain FPs shot best with about 37.0 grains of either 4064 or 4895. Never got around to using it on game. Drop down a couple of grains and work your way up.
Thank you Mudhen, I appreciate the information. I will most certainly heed your warning and start out low.
Oh wow 10Gauge, thank you very much! That's invaluable!
From my 336
40.5grs H4895 and the Rem or Hornady 200 RN
Thanks Bearcat, I appreciate it. All of the info gives me options and a good place to begin.
My old sears liked H4895 and 200 RN, I think were Hornady.
My main load for a Marlin 336-A 24 inch is....41.0 of Hodgdon LVR with the Hornady 200 gr FTX. I also load the Sierra 200 gr round nose bullet since the Remington 35 200 gr core-lokt is totally un-available.
Doc
Doc, Tom, thank you. I'm really looking forward to getting started.
" Marlinowners " is probably the best source of info. The link 10gauge gave you is invaluable. The writer of that thread has a TON of research data on the 35.

That's what I use in my Rem 141 and my Marlin 336.
Duck, that link certainly is invaluable.
I have had good success with the 180 grain Speer FP over 40.5 grains of H4895 in a couple of Marlin 336s and a Remington 760. In the Remington 141 I cut back to 39.0 grains of H4895.
Thanks 260, I appreciate it. I want to try to use a common powder that I already have and H4895 is one of those.
Since you have a can of H-4895 try 38.0 or 38.5 of H-4895 using the Sierra .35 200 gr soft point. If that load doesn't shoot then go to imr-3031 or Hodgdon "LVR"
Doc
Thanks Doc, I appreciate it. I'll certainly give that a try.
I have a 35 Rem in a Contender. H322 for 180's, H4895 is your friend for 200 - 220.
My old Marlin 336 loves 220gr Speers and IMR3031
Fotis, thank you very much for that. I love reading things such as this.

What speeds are you getting?
Anyone use reloder 10?
when I was using a 35 Rem I was loading 150gr Remington core lokts bullets with h4895, 2487fps, killed alot of Deer with that load, also used that bullet in a few of my 350 Rem mags
I have found a load that does what Buffalo Bores 220gr load will do as far as velocity,......2200 fps.
Leverevolution powder start at 40gr. And go up in .5 gr increments, the load I use is fired in a presafety Marlin 336, 20" barrel it provides an excellent trajectory and smashing power considering it's a completely stock gun.
It is now the only load I use in my 35 rem. It's my mini 4570.

your load?
I'm going from memory here as I'm at work and my data is at home, but 41.5grs sounds right.......please start at 40 and go half grain at a time from there.

I may be old but my memory is correct, 41.5gr Leverevolution, 220 Speer, 2200fps.
