Sierra 200 gr round nose. 36.5 of IMR3031 Win LR Shot is a Marlin 336-A 24"
Thanks, I've got 760 and Sierra 200 gr RNs. I'll add that load to my list
Thank's Doc, don't have any 3031, but I might pick up a pound
IMR 3031 gives outstanding accuracy and game killing performance in my .35 Whelen with 200gr. RN Hornady bullets. Try it you'll like it.
41.5 grains of Leverevolution Powder
200 Grain Hornady FTX
Federal 210 Primer
Those bullets work well on whitetails.
I am not at my data, but tried to duplicate the FTX load from Hornady. Something like 39.5 grains Leverevolution powder with the 200 grn FTX. I used CCI 200 primers. This shot at .7 at 100 yards and 1.375 at 200. This was out of a 1951 Marlin 336. Perfect for Eastern woods hunting.
Hmmm, W760 is awfully slow for the .35 Remington, there’s no loading data for it....must be a typo. My most accurate load is 43.0 grains LVR and the Hornady 200RN. Not max for a good M336 but 2200 fps and near moa accuracy, what’s not to like?

Thanks guy's I have H 4895 IMR4064 BL-C2. and 748 I have 760 but a can't find it any manuals including my Hodgdon
There is in a Hodgdon manual...
Not a recent one. Not even a powder that’s close in burning rate. Don’t use it, it will not burn cleanly and velocity will be very low.

Yeah.... I thought it a little strange, that it would work well. Do'es pretty well in my .300 short mag tho.
I use 39 grs of 3031( not a book load ),and a 200 gr Sierra. My 336A shoots that load in 1.5" groups (5 shot) at 100 yds with peep sights ...............Kills deer quick

Man, I wish we could use the 35 Rem and cartridges of similar ballistics for deer hunting in Iowa. This load you mentioned is really no different from a typical muzzleloader load. And I’m fond of the the 35 Rem in a vintage M 336.
I wish you could use it too George, last season I watched a heavy antlered 8pt, later weighed 198lbs dressed, chasing a doe around on a white oak hillside, the doe lay down, so did the buck, he wasn't going to leave her, I found his shoulders at 154 yards, BOOM went the Marlin, up came his hams, he pushed himself like a football lineman about 5 yards and stopped, I gave him another 220gr Speer through both hams, it was over, the first bullet wrecked his shoulders and buried itself in the white oak he was laying by.
It was a heck of a fun hunt.
I use IMR 4064 in my .35 Whelen and was satisfied with the acuracy that is till I tired IMR 3031 last fall, with Hornady 200gr. RN 3 shot cloverleaf groups at 100 yds. are frequent.
Can you use the .444 in Iowa? That round really set's 'em down!

COOL .
An old Marlin in great shape sold [immediately] in the classifieds a weekNhalf ago , always considered the 35 a Classic hunting cartridge . Just saying .
Bogtrotter , you're right about the 444mar. , got an old H&R love that rifle .
Bogtrotter, yes the 444, 45/70 and a whole hatful of pistol/revolver cartridges within certain parameters of caliber and case length are legal, the big catch being no bottle-neck cartridges like the 35 Rem even though guys have been hot-rodding muzzleloaders (legal) to that kind of power and even beyond in past years.
