.......357 Magnum 170 Grain Keith Wide Nose Semi Wadcutter Hardcast Ammo........

Friends,

I have 10-100 round boxes of 357 Magnum 170 Grain Semi Wadcutter Hardcast ammo, produced in new Starline brass.

This is a wide nose Elmer Keith design, and is an extremely accurate bullet.

Velocity as tested:

6" Ruger Security 6 1,350 FPS
2.5" Model 19 K Frame 1,050FPS

********************READ THIS*****************

This is a true Elmer Keith designed 170 grain projectile, and loaded properly. As such, the cartridge overall length (COAL)may be too long for some guns (like certain older Colts). In fact, this bullet was designed prior to the advent of the .357 magnum. The .357 Magnum has a SAAMI COAL of 1.59" (which is often too short for the use of many heavy bullets in the 170-180 grain range), and this ammo is loaded to 1.63".

This ammunition loads and functions perfectly fine in Smith & Wesson K Frame and Ruger .357 Magnums. If you have any doubt, measure your cylinder before you purchase.

This ammo was developed using S&W K Frames, and a Ruger Security 6.

Like all the ammo sold, these are sold in 100 round increments.

I have 10-100 round boxes ready to go.

Just info, here are two 5 shot groups. Shot at 50 yards and 75 yards.
Obviously the pistol was not zeroed for the load, but it demonstrates the accuracy. The group shown in the upper left that is a tad over 1" is the 75 yard group.

Pretty good bullet design and quite a while was spent fine tuning this load to find the "sweet spot", where the accuracy and velocity were optimal. This is where the two really came together.

This is the load my oldest daughter carried this last fall working as a cowboy/wrangler for an outfitter/guide in Idaho's backcountry. She carried it in a 2.5" Model 19 .357 Magnum. The one shown above.

Plenty of bears, lions and wolves in Idaho and I felt like this was pretty much the optimal gun and load for her while working on horseback and around camps.
Awesome bullet for that cartridge!
Thanks Frogman

It definitely is a great bullet. Lots of animals have been taken with it over the years.

You got it my Friend!
I'll also take 100 of your heavyb38 Spl ammo as well
You got it JWP

I will get them on the way to you tomorrow
Mackay, can I get 200 more of the 170 gr. .357's?

Thanks - cf
Hey Mackay SB:
I have a new production Win M73 in 357. Do you have a load you'd specify and sell for it?
GrouseChaser, Missoula MT
I don't have any lever action .357s, so I would not know how they feed. I have been told by customers that they use some of my ammo in their Marlins, Winchesters, Rossi lever guns, but I cannot personally know.

I realize most would just say yes, shoot x, just to make a sale, but I don't want people to spend money and end up with something that maybe does or does not work in a specific gun, as the ammo is designed for revolvers and autos.

I am going to be doing a run of heavy,+P poly coated semi wadcutter .38 Specials in the next day or two. Previously I tested and chronographed them, and they ran faster than some of the big brand factory .357 mag ammo.

They might be a possible good option, provided your rifle feeds .38 Specials.
Apparently I forgot to send you a pm on a couple hundred rounds Mackay. You’ve got one now. I’ll get a MO sent to you tomorrow.

Yep they are the nicest grips I have ever used for a K Frame. Every person's hands are different and I have used a lot of different grips before but those really just fit perfectly.
OK,

looks like I have each person covered, and have 1-100 round box left.

There are a couple of other cartridges I have to crank out in bulk before I can get back to these but I expect it won't be too long and I should have more back in the pipeline.

Should have some .45 Colt 270 grain Keith Wide Nose SWCs coming up here (back in stock) hopefully by tomorrow night.
I will take the last box if still available…. pm on the way

When it comes to S&W K-frames, I'm an Eagle finger position fan myself. SW05-FPRO-NACH (checkered) or SW05-FPRO-NASM (smooth). I find the checkered style uncomfortable to shoot without a glove, as the checkering cuts into my palm when shooting anything but light target loads. They, like many things, have significantly increased in price since I bought my first two sets, for an 18 and a 19, back in 10/83.
