It does not appear to be a round top. The scope knotch is seen under the base on the front. Im guessing its been drilled and tapped. Not sure if 77’s were ever drilled at the factory other than the round tops

I believe you are correct. I'd look again but it's at my family friends place all boxed up and ready to be shipped.
