I think I need to order a Slitter with that handle...I'll mention your knife when I do.
Thanks for the info!
The India Sambar stag,at present,is a more rare handle material, than Elephant or mammoth Ivory.
The exportation of it ceased on the yr. 2000,and was opened up in 2005 for one year only, and closed again. It was closed due to corruption & probably will not open up again.
So what is here in this country is out of stocks that are already imported.
Go on a big knife supply site such as "Alpha knife Supply" and check prices & size ranges.
The reality is that there might not be the size of the stag avail.,for your knife handle. If there is,it's pricy, and the "look" of the knife is limited, since stag, naturally is never a perfect match.
A lot of custom makers do not bother with stag that much any longer because it is not naturally matched, ever. Collectors want "matched" sides,no such thing with stag.So its costly to work it & to get a very good match.
It is very hard to get a lot of people to realize this. But when ordering an India Sambar stag knife from a custom builder, these days,it neds to be realized.
