22" blued 9.3x62 Shilen barrel, chambered and fitted to 98 Mauser by Jim Kobe. I recently obtained an AHR CZ in 9.3x62 and am turning this FN 98 Mauser into a 6.5x55.

Jim has the barreled action and has offered to ship barrel to buyer. Or, to save time and freight, buyer could just send a 98 Mauser action to Jim to have the barrel fitted. Jim is a Fire contributor (JKOB), a quality smith with lots of Mauser experience. He'll do you a good job.

$150 shipped. An inexpensive and quick way to get into the 9.3x62 game, and with a Shilen barrel to boot. Less than 50 rounds down the tube with proper break in.

I will buy it, PM follows.
Damn that's cheap!! Kute, don't you have enough of those?? Good snag..
Pm sent w/ offer. Looks like too late
FN 98 Mauser into a 6.5x55.... I LIKE the sound of that!!
I still have one minty Brno ZG-47 action stripped from an original 9.3x62 rifle and one last Brno minty 21H action left to build rifles on.

I WANTED to have the master Ralf Martini build me a matched pair for my last guns, but, my wife's health and then employment-career fell apart and we took our pensions.

So, I do not want to spend that kind of $$$$ and now want to just build a couple of synthetic-stocked user rifles on these actions and the one Shilen tube I now have, a .338WM on my 20+ year old Dakota 86 shoots "lights-out"so, this will work for me.

Getting excited about it, myself, as this is a very nice FN action with Canjar trigger, swing safety and three panel Oberndorf type bolt handle.

I have a 6.5-284, but a man can't have too many 6.5's... laugh

And I have a good selection of 6.5 bullets.

GOOD deal!

Just wondering. Would that bbl have fit or been made to fit my Husqvarna 1640 action?
Is that a Large Ring or a Small Ring? Seems that Husky offered both.

Man, that is going to be sweet!!!!

I had a Sako AV in 6.5x55 that I sold awhile back. It was a real looker and shot great. I never should have sold it. I'm trying to find a Tikka T3 Lite in 6.5x55 but they are darn near impossible to find. It may have to move to Canada. lol.

Large ring I believe.

the 1640 is a small ring action, I believe. It was one of the "improved Mauser actions" that Husqvarna developed after they quit using surplus military FN 98 actions.

I might be wrong, but I don't think so. If the safety is along the right side, and the bolt release is a small button on the left side it is a small ring action. wink

If it weren't tax time, and time to pay the NDOW their pound of flesh to apply for big game tags I'd be all over this barrel. frown

EZ,

You have a small ring HVA action rifle. I love these guns! I have an HVA in 7X57AI that is one of my all time favorite rifles. cool

THANKS for the clarification!

Still not sure what to do with it.

I just finished this one, a 30-06. It started out as a 456, full stock. The original stock was broken by UPS, I bought the barreled action and a used stock from Karnis. This is the result.

BTW, Shilen barrel SPF.

VERY nice!

I know mine is the smoothest crf production rifle I've ever handled and will feed (it's a .30-06) 257 Roberts,270 Win,7x57,and 9.3x62. It had a bulge in the bbl under the front sight so I lopped it off to just under 18".
10-4 on smooth. Those Huskies have an almost cult following. They don't ususally bring big bucks and IMHO, are a sleeper.
