Does anyone here have any actual personal experience with the SWFA 2.5-10 lightweight rifle scope. Just thinking it may be what I need nless experienced people have negative commentary. I have used other swfa scopes and am aware they don't have the best glass and are not the most pleasing to the eye , but are rugged and functional. Just want opinions on the one specified.

Thank you for the links.....
I have one and it appears to have good adjustments and holds zero well. It has been bouncing in my truck on a .223 Kimber Montana off and on for a little over a year and is still zeroed.

The eye relief is very short and in my opinion to short for anything with much more recoil than the .223 or maybe a light bullet in a .243. At 10x the image is so poor on the one I have I consider it a 2.5-8x, others may be better.

For what I paid for it I am satisfied with it even though it has the shortcomings I mentioned.
I could not get mine to focus above 8 power. The only issue which was a deal breaker
The eye relief was a deal breaker for me.
POS eye relief is trash. At best a rimfire scope.
It's for a 243 with about 8.5 lbs of heft so eye relief is not a problem.
I have a couple of them and they work well for me.

Eye relief is on the short side, so I would not use on a kicker, but it did not give me any problems on a fairly lightweight 308WIn.

That having been said, I have mostly been using them on smaller intermediate calibers.

Any critter pics?
I have one on a AR-15. Works great for my uses. I have really not noticed the short eyebox. I was having focus issues at 8-10x, but the more I have been shooting it and adjusting it, the less it has been an issue. I have been shooting out to 330 yard with no issues. I also like the small overall size of the scope on the AR.
If considering one pretty strongly counts, yeah. I decided, after a brief discussion with someone else, a knowledgeable person about such stuff that tried one, that it’s overpriced for what you get. For half, or less of what they charge, you can get a Burris Fullfield II or E1 3-9, that’s not a compromise in any way as a hunting scope. I have four of those now, giving excellent service. Unless 5oz. or so is crucial, it’s an easy choice.
I've used one on for a little over 2 years. Taken some deer and caribou with it and it works as advertised. On a 5.5 pound all up rifle I haven't found eye relief to be an issue. But its only a 6.5 CM. Would I put it on my 338-06 just to make it 6.5 pounds all up.....certainly NOT smile

I shot a deer with one in October 24th 2020....250 Savage

I had a 1" (3) shot group at 200 yards during sight in, a few days earlier.
I was ready to use the BCD reticle to long range.

But on opening morning, there she was at 100 yards.
It’s done what I’ve asked it to do.

Is there a bottle cap opener on it?

Yes, read my post above. I find it pretty much useless above about 8X. I find it rugged and light both of which are important to me on my Kimber 223.

Unfortunately not, I didn’t splurge for the deluxe model. I had to use that hunk of steel to the left.
Mine is also essentially a 2.5-8. I can’t get it to focus well above 8 no matter what I do, plus my personal scopes eye relief really goes down drastically from 8 to 10 power.
I wanted it to work but so far I just can’t like it, it’s currently just setting in the safe.

I need to send it in and see if mine is just not working correctly

The way you have it mounted strongly suggests I would not get along with that scope.

To be honest, the scope could and should go forward probably 1/2-3/4”, but it’s fine the way it is. The eye relieve isn’t great, but serviceable. I probably won’t buy another, but as you can see this one still sits on a rifle.

Picture for comparison….

Hey! Three FCs?

No fair!
What would be a good alternative for this scope?
"What would be a good alternative for this scope?"

Leupold VX3HD 2.5x8x36
Just as an update, I bought the scope , zeroed it a 100 yds this evening and the first shot at 400 would have dropped a deer in its tracks using the reticle as it is marked. Focus and eye relief are better than I was led to believe on various posts and the mule deer feeding along the range allowed me to try the reticle and scope in real hunting conditions. I am completely happy with all the results that one evening of shooting so far.

I really doubt that. The no focus above 8 power is well established by now.

To get the a similar reticle

VX-3HD 4.5-14X40 CDS-ZL BOONE & CROCKETT Part # 180620

5 ounces heavier and $609.
Sounds like SWFA should have went for a 3-9 compact instead of a 2.5-10.
Shot my 308win montana with a swfa ultralight the other day. Zero issues with eye relief on any power.

In October 24 2020 it was cold and windy and I shot a doe with a 250 Savage and a SWFA ultralight..

I built a 260 Rem this month and will take it hunting in Oct 2021. It has a SWFA ultralight too.
I kinda love mine and hate mine.
Mine is on a 16" pencil barrel AR with a YHM turbo k.

Whole setup might not weight 6lbs sans mag.

It's a great little ranch walking setup.
I like keeping it on 2.5 for hundred yard deer hunting.

10x is really just for paper so I don't care if it fuzzes, but I've never noticed it.

Who needs more than 6x or so on a BDC reticle anyhow?

My only gripe is really just asthetically it looks kinda goofy having the optic sticking out 2" behind the charging handle.
And it's so small it looks like a toy. Doesn't affect usability at all, just pure vanity.

For a 300-400 yard gun with no recoil (223) it's a pretty good choice.

Very bright at last shooting minutes too.
Like- almost as bright as my NF Atacrs bright.

I own one and I disagree.
I don't think they made any optical compromises at all with that mag range.

Tracking wise and weight and power (if you can can get it to focus past 8x) ..... nothing
[Linked Image from photos.smugmug.com]

I characterized the reticle with a zero point and put it on SH, where the reticle designer corrected me with the original drawing.
have one on a savage mod. 99 250-3000 works great!

How is the rimfire version?

I really doubt that. The no focus above 8 power is well established by now.

I truly had no focus issues at any power setting, My eye sight is not superb by any means and it focused clear enough to shoot anything I felt comfortale shooting at at any distance.....Not saying there aren't issues for some people, I just did not have any.
They do seem to be based on a person's eyes. That said I have never had this issue with any other scope. It's pissing me off because if it worked for me I would own half a dozen.
I was actually impressed by the fact it is two steps ahead of the 20x ss as far as clarity and focus. if it proves as reliable I will have a couple more and start retiring my 6x weavers.
I’m wondering if I should go back and set the scope a little better in the rings and see if I can mimic any of the complaints I’ve read about here.

I do too.

Thanks for mentioning that. I don't think I have test fired that rifle yet, 2 years after building it.
My forgotten 99.

Mine has been fine at 10x. The only gripe I have is sfp, leaving the reticle holdover only usable at 10x. A straight mil scale would have been nice also. Have mine on a light ar aswell, T2 on the way.
Last update, I did some shooting yesterday and managed a 3" group at 500yds with this scope and a generally usable ,but not spectacularly accurate 243. Mirage was not good and laying prone. I will completely be happy with this scope and its intended uses.............
What power.????

I've bought several scopes from them over the years...a Swarovski a Schmidt and a couple of Leupolds.

I never really looked at the Chinese made crap they sell.

Please tell us the inside info you have on these Chinese made scopes.

We're all interested to know since they are marked "made in Japan". Which you obviously know I'd incorrect
My only complaint with my apparently incorrectly labeled Japanese made SWFA 2.5-10x32 bdc scope is the reticle choice. I sure wish they would have kept the capped turrets and used the MQ reticle or just a plain mildot (with of course mil adjustments).

Clarity, weight, eye relief is fine.

Obviously you’re not familiar with the philosophy that regards anyone that’s not an American as some variety of “gook”. Exceptions are sometimes made for folks in Yurrup., but given the immigration debacle there, those will be fewer and fewer.
