The details Going on the wife’s browning bar 270 win. It had a Vari x iii 3.5-10x40 on it. She wants something with an illuminated dot in a cross hair Looking for something simple and effective Give me some ideas and recommendations most of her shooting is 200 yards max And most shots falling around 75 to 125 yards. Power range and brand appreciated.
Trijicon Accupoint is hard to beat IMO. The 3-9 works great and weighs less than 14 oz. We have several. It's not a Night Force, and I did buy one used once that was not usable due to erratic tracking. Trijicon sent a replacement for free. My wife replaced a VX-6 with one on her 7-08 and is very happy with it.
I have done a lot of research for a 3-9 ish, 1" tube quality scope with illuminated reticle not made in China, and I ended up at the accupoint. Have not bought yet

If leupold would put their firedot on a heavy duplex in their VX3-HD line; that would be awesome. But they have not.
Tag. In the market for exactly the same.

The Sig Sauer WHISKEY3 3-9x40mm - 1" - SFP - HellFire QuadPlex at $199.99 is a great deal on a very good scope
FEATURES:
3x optical zoom offered in second focal plane (SFP) with multiple reticle options
Low dispersion (LD) glass provides industry leading optical clarity for any situation
European style eyepiece for a smooth, fast, and precise reticle adjustment
Dependable waterproof (IPX-7 rated for complete immersion up to 1 meter) and fog-proof performance

Trijicon Credo 3-9x40
You can buy anything you want but the best is a Trijicon 3-9.....first and most important with any and all others if the battery docent work the cross hair will not be anything but a black cross hair.....get a Trijicon 3-9 and if the battery doesn't work you still have available light to illuminate the cross hairs.....

Spend your money on what you think is the best Trijicon is the only scope that doesn't need batteries to work....long before night vision was more affordable I only used Trijicon....

You can do like I did try out other scopes with lighted cross hairs and sold or just buy the best and only scope to buy Trijicon.....
Trijicon or GPO.
Trijicon Accupoint or Credo, I have both in 3-9x40. If you want to keep it light go with the Accupoint, excellent scopes either way.
i'd go zeiss v-4 with #60 ret or leupold vx-5hd with firedot ret. oh wait both of those are 30mm i believe.
Big Ed
Sig Sauer…
That illuminated Burris E1 3-9 that Doug had for a while was the best for the $…most of the other stuff mentioned is 30mm….but some are still light. There are several reticles out there that are just as fast/easy to see as illuminated reticles in low light hunting situations.
I second the Burris. I got a lit dot #4 for well under $200 and it gives up nothing to my Vx3- except maybe a little bulk.
So you guys like the 3-9? I put my 1-4 on the single shot, and decided my man-bun NEEDS illumination. I liked the Plex reticle with the green dot while browsing.
Trijicon accupoint or credo

Credo has better eyebox, FOV, and illumination

Accupoint is lighter

Both are very good

SWFA 1-4x x 24.

Select rings to fit that rifle...30mm.

1" tube scopes with reticle illumination are not exactly numerous. Of the remaining options, if your budget allows it, I would probably pick up Trijicon Accupoint 3-9x40 and be done with it.

They have been making it forever and a day, so it is well proven and robust, while fairly lightweight.

Never used one, but I'd be inclined to try out a Nightforce SHV 3-10x42 Forceplex illuminated part number C611 ~ $985.00.

This is a great scope.
If one can find a Meopro 3.5-10x44 RD it is a very good scope w/illumination and yes it is a 1". powdr

I recently picked up an Athlon Argos 4-20x50 with a duplex and center illuminated dot. 1" tube. Completely satisfied. It's a very nice scope by my eyes.
I'm hoping to pick up a 2-12x42 when they come back in stock at Cameraland.
200 max but how much is 20? What is she shooting?
I've got a Trigicon Credo in the 3-9x40. Nice scope with great glass but I wish I had not bought it. I bought it for an upcoming hunt in Africa and will probably switch it out before then.

1) the crosshair is really thin. It's more of a fine crosshair than a duplex. Pretty easy to lose it once you put it on fur. If you turn on the illumination it really pops and is easy to pickup.

2) getting it mounted was a chore. The scope tube is really short and the ocular bell is huge. Talley lows or mediums didn't work. And leupold standard rings and bases barely allow clearance of the bolt handle.

Another vote for the Accupoint 3-9 w/duplex, green for me. Have two mounted on arguably my best rifles. The Accupoint duplex is about as good as it gets in duplex reticles; heavy side-bars that come close to the center and a fine center section with an illuminated dot. A few days ago I dialed one in and could clearly quarter a 1” white dot with it and see the green. If you have any skylight, you’ll see that dot via the fiber optics. In the dark, it’s tiny, but visible. I looked at the credo version, but as was said, it’s too fine and wide for use without turning on the light. I have two other Credo HXs, but that one gets a pass from me. Hopefully, someday they’ll bring out an HX version, which is their hunting line.

Neither has made it afield being new, but Both adjusted as dialed, and when my neighbors are inside, I try them out under various lighting conditions in my yard. Not cheap (about $650), but worth the price.

Trijicon has very descriptive reticle illustrations for each model on their website.
Accupoint 3-9 is generally a good option. Just mounted one up on a 7mm-08 for sighting-in tomorrow.
How do the dots look with mild astigmatism?

I have a Trijicon red dot handgun site with a 2.5 MOA dot. I love it for defensive handgun -- wouldn't want to be without it. It would be horrible for hunting. It gets tolerable for 100+ yards with the brightness turned way down so the dot is very faint.

I don't think the riflescopes are reflex. I bet they use an optical fiber on the reticle assembly. So do they look like a point, starburst, a smear? How big in MOA?
Swarovski Z5 2.4x12x50.

If they made this scope with a 42-44 mm objective it would be perfect.
The problem with a 42mm objective is that at 12X the exit pupil is smaller than desireable. I have the Z5 in 2.4 to 12. I can recommend it for what it is - a hunting riflescope for standard ranges on game. It's lightweight, the optics are quality. Mine is not illuminated. That's the Z5i. Mine does have the Ballistic Turret, which is a slick way to quickly dial in preset elevations. However, I would not expect this scope to dial like a Nightforce etc. It is much lighter though. It fits one rifle I have very well. The objective bell is too large for another rifle and mount I have and it's not one where I can just change the rings. So I need a smaller objective for that. I will also go to a smaller power on the high-end.

I read there are 3 reticles available, but only see the Quadplex on the Sig website. Where can the others be found?

I have a couple of the Konus pro 1.5-6x42's on various rifles and for the money they are great. It is 30mm though. Doug has great prices on them.

Recent scopes I bought, liked them, and shot big game with them:
Leupold VX-6HD
Vortex Razor HD LHT
SWFA SS 2.5-10x32 Ultralight
Trijicon AccuPoint TR20-2

I buy mail order and get scopes I don't like, but I am doing better on scopes than shoes from Amazon.
